The first Merseyside derby of the season takes place at Goodison Park on Wednesday 1 December as Everton welcome city rivals Liverpool.

Everton have dropped down to fourteenth place after a dismal run of form, whilst Liverpool sit third, just one point behind Manchester City, and two-points behind leaders, Chelsea.

After a good start to the season, the Toffees have endured a miserable run of form of late, which has seen them win just two of their last 10 league games.

Their form at Goodison Park had been good, winning three of their six home games so far, but they haven’t won in front of their own fans since a 2-0 victory against Norwich at the end of September. Since that success, they have suffered home defeats against West Ham and a 5-2 hammering at the hands of Watford.

After Liverpool delivered a stunning performance to beat Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford at the end of October, they went on to drop points when being held to a 2-2 draw at Anfield by Brighton, before losing 3-2 at West Ham. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men have bounced back from those setbacks to qualify as group winners in the Champions League and record successive 4-0 wins against Arsenal and then Southampton at the weekend.

The Reds away form is impressive too, with four wins and a draw from their six games on the road and they have scored 21 goals in those away games, which is by far the most from a Premier League team on their travels.
