Arsenal to win

Liverpool have been fantastic of late, and are absolutely flying in the Premier League. That said, Jurgen Klopp likes to rotate his squad in cup competitions and, even though their opponents are a very strong Arsenal side, it is likely that he will do that in this one. I think Mikel Arteta will field a stronger 11 and that they will have too much for a youthful and somewhat inexperienced Liverpool side. Arsenal will be looking to regain some form following a defeat in their last two, and I think this is a great opportunity for them to do that. I’m backing them to progress.

 

Over 2 goals

There will be goals in this one. Liverpool will play with their usual high energy and high tempo, and although oi think the Gunners will come out on top, the Reds won’t go down without a fight. There is a lot of quality all over the pitch for both sides, but especially in attacking areas, and I think two or more goals is a dead cert. There has been a minimum of two goals in each of Arsenal’s five, and the same for Liverpool in their last four. I think this selection adds real value.

 

Curtis Jones to be booked

Curtis Jones is a sporadic player for Jurgen Klopp’s side, featuring 12 times in the Premier League this season, picking up one booking in that time, fouling on six occasions, an average of 0.5 times per match. However, he has featured in most of Liverpool’s matches in both the Europa League and Carabao Cup, and I think he will play in this one. He hasn’t picked up a lot of cards, but he is experienced for his ages, and I think Arsenal will field a stronger midfield here, and he may be forced into a foul or two. I fancy him to pick up his second booking of the season here.
