Betting odds

  • Aston Villa are 8/15 favourites for the win at home
  • The draw is 10/3
  • A West Ham win away from home is 19/4

Aston Villa are having a decent season and are sitting in eighth place as it stands, but just four points behind Chelsea in fourth. They are 9/1 for a top four finish and 15/8 to finish in the top six.

West Ham are 14th in the league, 10 points above the relegation zone and seven points outside the top half. They are 7/1 to finish in the top half.

Aston Villa vs West Ham Predictions

I think Aston Villa will come away from this one with all three points. The Villains have lost just two of their last 10 league matches, winning five and drawing two. Villa haven’t lost to West Ham in their last five, with three wins and two draws in those five. They defeated the Hammers just two weeks ago in the FA Cup, too. West Ham haven’t won in their last four league matches, and I think Villa will have too much for them here.

I’m backing Ollie Watkins to score in this one. He has 10 goals to his name in the league this season in 22 matches, and I think he will add to his tally here. Villa will create plenty of chances at home here, and as Watkins is their main goal threat, I think there’s a great chance of him getting on the score sheet once more.

Boubacar Kamara and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are the two players we’re backing to pick up a card. Kamara has picked up four yellow cards this season in 19 matches across all competitions, with two in the league and two in the Champions League. He has been booked in his last two matches, last time out against Monaco, and before that in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal. I expect him to make a couple of fouls here against an aggressive West Ham midfield. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been carded twice in all competitions this season in his 22 appearances across the league and the cup. He is a very aggressive tackler, and coming up against the likes of Ollie Watkins and Emi Buendia will be in for an extremely tough time at the back. I think both players have a good chance of being carded here.
