Brentford v Manchester United Bet Builder Tips – A 10/1 tip that sees United return to winning ways
Manchester United are already in desperate need of a positive performance and all three points in the Premier League in just the second game of the season, will they get it this weekend?
Erik ten Hag was helpless in his Premier League debut with the club, as he saw Brighton & Hove Albion run riot in midfield, just as United’s attacking brilliance from preseason failed to turn up.
There were just five shots on target for the Red Devils at Old Trafford, and from the first minute to the 90th, Fred, Scott McTominay, and Harry Maguire all seemed just as lost at the heart of United’s team as they did last campaign.
Brentford, on the other hand, had an entirely contrasting 90 minutes down at the King Power Stadium. The Bees fell two goals behind in the 46th minute, but a smart finish from main man Ivan Toney and a sensational effort from Josh Dasilva snatched a point for Thomas Frank in the end.
It was a real game of two halves, as once again, Brentford showed attacking excellence and defensive fragilities. It does now make this game tough to call, but with so much attention on United heading into this one, there really is no room for another torrid display.
🔴MAN UNITED TO WIN
Bet365 have United priced at 1/1 just to win the game, which should be enough to explain where this club is already at in the ten Hag era. I do, however, believe they will win this game. This mainly stems from the club’s overall superiority in the squad, the fact United have taken Brentford’s best player, Christian Eriksen, and how ten Hag cannot afford another defeat.
The Red Devils are also unbeaten against the Bees in the two Premier League games they’ve met in. The first at the Brentford Community Stadium resulted in a comfortable 3-1 win for United in what was an excellent attacking display. Bruno Fernandes assisted twice that day, as he set up goals for Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford.
Back at Old Trafford, things were even easier for the 20-time champions, as Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernandes and Raphael Varane got a goal each.
Simply put, United can’t afford to lose here, and we think this will be enough to get them all three points.
🤝ERIKSEN TO ASSIST
Eriksen is heading back to the Brentford Community Stadium just a few months after departing the club. The Dane was a sensation for the club as he registered a goal and four assists from 11 league games.
The assists that season has now put Eriksen on 71 Premier League assists from 238 games, and based on last season and his performances at United so far, there is no way he slows down this year. The former Brentford man was arguably United’s best player in the defeat to Brighton, and throughout the final three preseason games, Eriksen was constantly a threat as he continued to supply the forward players.
Now, with Ronaldo likely to start, the midfielder will have a bit more creative freedom and also likely get more time to thread balls into the likes of Marcus Rashford with Brentford so attack-minded.
🟨OVER 2 CARDS COMBINED
Another alarming part of United’s loss to Brighton was their discipline. The likes of Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire looked lost when Danny Welbeck got into the game, and their worrying performance was met with four yellow cards.
Luke Shaw was also booked for a foul on Welbeck, with Maguire booked for an argument with the referee. McTominay was another man booked for a foul on Moises Caicedo.
The bookings showed United’s lack of discipline and how they struggled to deal with an out-and-out number nine like Ivan Toney, so I expect this to carry on here.
🎯TONEY SHOT ON TARGET
Speaking of the potential struggles for United against Toney, I’m also backing him to get a shot on target after his goal against Leicester.
Toney was a threat regularly throughout the second half, and up against Maguire who seems no different to last season, there’s a huge chance the Brentford striker continues to trouble the opposition here.
✨Brentford v Man United Bet Builder Tip
- Toney shot on target
- Eriksen to assist
- United to win
- Over 2 combined cards
