Bulgaria vs Republic of Ireland Predictions

I’m backing the Republic of Ireland to come out on top despite winning only three in 10. Bulgaria have also won only three in 10, playing their football in a lower division than Ireland, against teams with less quality. For example, they were hammered 5-0 by Ireland’s neighbours Northern Ireland. I think the Irish will have far too much qualify for them here, despite playing away from home.

That said, I do think both teams to score is a good bet here. Bulgaria have scored in six of their last 10 fixtures in all competitions, while Ireland have only scored in three of their last 10. However, they do have good strikers in the form of Evan Ferguson, Sammie Szmodics and Adam Idah, so I think they’ll have plenty of chances here. With that quality in attack, I won’t be shocked to see them score at least a couple of goals here against Bulgaria.

I’m backing two players to have one or more shots on target here – Ireland’s Adam Idah and Kiril Despodov of Bulgaria. Idah is having a decent season for Celtic with eight goals in 27 in the Scottish Premiership and three in 10 in the Champions League. He’s also scored one in the Scottish Cup and two in the Scottish League Cup, taking his tally to 14 for the season. Despodov has seven goals in all competitions for PAOK this season, across the Super League Greece and the Europa League. He scored one in his five Nations League appearances. I think both players have a strong chance of having one or more shots on target here.
