Everton vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tip, Predictions and Betting Tips
Everton vs Chelsea bet builder tips for the opening Saturday night fixture in the Premier League. Last season, Everton won this fixture 1-0 as they took a massive step in their plight for survival but it has been all change at Chelsea since then.
It’s the Frank Lampard ‘derby’ on the first late kick-off of the new Premier League season, as Everton look to move on from their dreadful campaign last time out when they welcome a Chelsea side with many questions marks above their head to Goodison Park.
Much of the pre-Premier League discussions have been related to the signings Manchester City and Liverpool have made, the start of the Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United, and the sensational moves going down in north London. Over in West London, however, nobody really knows what to expect from Chelsea.
Although they’ve had a great transfer window in terms of incomings with Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, they have also lost Antonio Rudiger and Romelu Lukaku and have failed once again to bring in an out-and-out striker who will guarantee them goals.
With this in mind, I still expect them to get all three points on Merseyside as Everton have nothing to shout about after a summer of concern. Richarlison has now left the club, and with it goes a chunk of vital goals across the 38 games of this season.
The Toffees have brought in Dwight McNeil and James Tarkowski from Burnley and Rúben Vinagre from Sporting Lisbon, but this is far from enough to convince me they’ll improve from near-relegation last season.
Everton v Chelsea Bet Builder Tip
- Kai Havertz 2+ shots on target

- Over 2.5 goals
- Chelsea to win

TOTAL GOALS – OVER 2.5
I expect a few goals in this one. Players like Sterling have a lot to prove this season after being let go by Manchester City so easily, while Kai Havertz is going to be chomping at the bit to cement his place as Chelsea’s main goalscoring output with Lukaku rejoining Inter Milan for the season.
At the same time, I do believe Everton will give the away side a bit to think about here. Goodison Park is going to be bouncing on the opening day, mainly because they managed to survive last season, and how the fans know the importance in racking up all three points in order to swiftly move on from last campaign.
TOTAL CARDS – OVER 3.5
In line with the idea I believe this will be a feisty encounter with so much to prove for each team, the cards could get racked up once again. In fact, during the 1-0 win last season for Everton, the Toffees registered three yellow cards, just as Chelsea saw five players get booked as well.
In the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge back in December of last year, three Everton players received a yellow card with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jorginho also getting a booking that day too.
Recent history between Everton and Chelsea points towards another card-heavy game for the referee to deal with.
KAI HAVERTZ 2+ SHOTS ON TARGET
Lukaku is back in Italy and Timo Werner likely remains as Thomas Tuchel’s backup striker as well.
Now, the likes of Mason Mount, Sterling and Havertz are going to be the main source of goals this season as a result, and I think the German will be the difference in this game.
Havertz registers his shots on target in all forms. His wizardry-esque left foot is one thing, but the forward also gets goals in abundance with his head and is a serious threat in the air.
What’s more, we cannot overlook the fact the Toffees still managed to concede 66 goals last season from 38 games, and the signing of Tarkowski at the back is not going to change that statistic that much this season.
I think Havertz will fancy himself to get in on the goals here, and I’m backing him to get 2+ shots on target against this weak Everton defence.
CHELSEA TO WIN
Although Lampard will be eager to beat his old side once again this season and get Everton off the perfect start, Tuchel and his men have a point to prove to the rest of London and those up north. I think their superiority is too much, and in truth, Everton could struggle again this season now that Richarlison has left the club.
I’m picking the Blues to get the win here on the road and get a valuable three points in the bag on the opening weekend.
