Germany to win

Germany have a history of performing well in the World Cup (except 2018), and are one of the shorter odds to win the competition at 11/1.

Hansi Flick’s side have won two of their last four matches, drawing one against England and were narrowly defeated by Hungary. However, I expect them to hit the ground running in this competition with a win over Japan.

The Japanese haven’t won in their last two, drawing 0-0 against Equador and losing to Canada. Germany have a far superior squad and I think they’ll win this one comfortably.

 

Over 2 goals in the match

I said I expect Germany to win comfortably, and I think they’ll do it by at least two goals. That said, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Japan got themselves on the scoresheet, so I’ve opted for over two goals in the match for both teams combined.

There were three goals in Japan’s last fixture against Canada, and Germany have seen a lot of goals in their recent fixtures, with a 3-3 draw against England last month and a 5-2 victory over Italy in June.

I expect there to be goals in this one and think this selection should come in with ease.

 

Over 7 Germany corners

This one doesn’t need too much explaining. I expect Germany to be dominant in this fixture, and with that will come a good amount of corners. With the likes of Serge Gnabry in their side, they have a lot of pace and will cause a lot of problems for the Japan back line.

The Germans had nine corners last time out against Oman, and I think they’ll manage over 7 in this one against a Japan side who have conceded 7 or more corners in their last two outings.
