Monaco vs Aston Villa Predictions

I’m backing Aston Villa to come out on top in what will be a tricky visit to Ligue 1 side Monaco. Villa are unbeaten in their last five in all competitions with three wins and two draws in that time, and are having a decent season in the league. In the Champions League, they have won four of six, including an impressive victory over Bayern Munich. Monaco have won only two of their last 10 in all competitions and were beaten last time out by bottom-of-the-league Montpellier. They have also lost their last two in the Champions League. I think Villa will win this one.

Ollie Watkins is the main man for Villa up top so I’m backing him to get a goal here. The England striker has scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season in his 22 appearances. He is yet to score in the Champions League after six games, however, and will be desperate to get off and running here. He has scored in his last two, and I think he will keep his good run going here.

The two players we’re backing for a booking are Boubacar Kamara and Lamine Camara. We’ll start with Boubacar Kamara of Villa – he has been carded three times this season, twice in the league and once in the Champions League. He averages over one foul per game, and I think he’s good odds to be carded here. Lamine Camara, Monaco’s holding midfielder, has been carded six times in Ligue 1 this season, while also picking up two cards in his six Champions League appearances so far. I think both players have a good chance of being carded here.
