Tottenham to win

Spurs fans will be hopeful for the future under new boss, former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu. The Australian is known for his expansive, free-flowing style of football and it was evident that he will play this way with his new team as we saw them draw with Brentford on the opening day. I think Spurs will win this one, their first home game of the season. Despite losing Harry Kane, I think they’ll have enough to overcome United, who were poor in their opening day fixture against Wolves. Despite winning the game 1-0, the Red Devils were very underwhelming and could easily have lost the game, with Wolves playing very impressively. I’m backing Tottenham to pick up all three points in this one.

 

Heung-Min Son over 0.5 shots on target

With Harry Kane off to pastures new in the form of German giants Bayern Munich, Heung-Min Son is amongst those being tasked with finding the net for Spurs. Last season, he didn’t score anywhere near as many goals as he did previously, especially compared to the 2021-22 season, where he was joint top scorer with Liverpool’s Mo Salah. I’m expecting Son to have a couple of chances to get a shot away in this one, and I’m taking him to have at least one shot on target here.

This is two teams who will be in and around the top six, and potentially the top four, so I expect them to be at it from the off. In Spurs opening game of the season, they received four yellow cards. For United, the opening game seen them collect exactly two cards. With the new rules on dissent meaning players are being booked for less this season, I think this selection has a good chance.

 

Fernandes to be carded

Bruno Fernandes was lucky to escape being booked against Wolves in Monday night and his constant moaning to the officials is sure to get him in bother this season, especially with the stricter rules coming into force. He was poor on Monday and clearly getting frustrated and the same could happen on Saturday night, making a card even more likely.
