The second playoff event for the FedExCup takes place this week as the top 70 play and you can find our win and each-way betting tips for the BMW Championship below.

The players outside the top 30 will be eager to have a good week to try and qualify for next week’s Tour Championship. We head the Olympia Fields this week and I expect it to be a real test similar to a major.

BMW Championship Betting Tips

With that in mind my first selection is again XANDER SCHAUFFELE 16/1 WIN (William Hill) Xander played very solid again last week especially on the weekend and his stats seemed to improve as the week went on. He is one of the best off the tee on the Tour and there will be a real emphasis on driving the ball well this week with the much expected thick rough. Xander has always said he prefers the harder venues over a birdie feast as he feels it suits his game better. That statement can be backed up by his record in majors which are near enough always set up to be a test. He is overdue a win this year and he’s doing everything right to suggest a big showing is coming. On a course that will play to his strengths were pars will be a good score this week could be the week.

 

Each-Way Tips

I am happy to chance a few outsiders to go with Xander this week with 7 places on offer for e/w punters in a 70 man field.

The first e/w selection is CAMERON CHAMP 80/1 EW Betfred (7 places). Champ played really good golf in the last major a couple of weeks ago at Harding Park. He struck the ball well all week on his way to a top 10 finish. This test will be very similar to that one. Champ is arguable the longest hitter on the Tour and this par 70 course is set up to be the longest course the players have played all year so distance could well be key. He missed the cut on the number last week at -2 but this appears to be a better test for him.

 

Next up is JASON KOKRAK 80/1 EW Betfred (7 places). Kokrak is a top-quality ball-striker who has always had his issues with the putter. Last week he had to make an eagle on the last hole to qualify for this week and he done just that. I’m hoping that results in a nothing to lose approach this week and there should be no pressure on him here. A course where pars are going to be a good score is the type of test he is capable of thriving on and I think the price is very reasonable this week. He was interviewed after the eagle last week and was excited to get the chance to play this week which shows he’s in good spirits and looking forward to the test.

 

My next selection is ROBBY SHELTON 175/1 EW SKY BET (7 places) Shelton is a player on the up. He keeps creeping under the radar and playing solid consistent golf week in week out. He finished with a stunning round of -8 last Sunday and I can see him kicking on here this week with that round giving him a lot of confidence. Again with the top 7 places on offer E/W he is a must this week.

I would also recommend backing ROBBY SHELTON first-round leader at 100/1.

 

My final selection is MAVERICK MCNEALY 250/1 EW Paddy Power (7 places). McNealy is another young talent who I’m sure will be inspired by the heroics of some of the youngsters such as Morikawa and Wolff recently. He is a great driver of the golf ball which should set him up well this week and he is another man who has nothing to lose this week but everything to gain. This takes the pressure off him this week and on a course where his partner Danielle Kang has previously won hopefully, he can make it a double for the pair here. Hopefully, she’s giving him a few tips and the fact she’s won twice already since lockdown can hopefully help bring his game along.
