There have been some fantastic defenders in the Premier League era but not all of them had the knack of scoring goals at the other end. Some defenders had that instinct to be in the right place at the right time on set pieces, and some could strike a ball so well they were given penalty and free kick duties, which enhanced their chances of getting on the scoresheet.
