CONFIRMED: National League Play-off Schedule 2018/19 in Full
The National League, National League North and National League South all concluded this weekend and we now move onto the thrill of the play-offs, where there are a total of 14 matches taking place over the next 10 days.
The new layout means that there are six teams from each of the three divisions still in with a chance of promotion and second and third position in each league automatically go into the traditional semi-finals, the other four teams have to play an ‘eliminator’ game, taking place at the home of the highest placed finishing team this week.
National League Play-Off Dates 2019
Teams already into the semi-finals:
Solihill Moors
Salford City
Eliminator Fixtures
AFC Fylde vs Harrogate Town (Wednesday 1st May 7pm)
Wrexham vs Eastleigh (Thursday 2nd May 7pm)
Semi-finals
Solihull Moors vs AFC Fylde or Harrogate (Saturday 4th May 12.30pm)
Salford City vs Wrexham or Eastleigh Sunday 5th May 3.30pm)
2019 National League Play-off Final Date:
Saturday 11th May – 3pm – Wembley Stadium.
National League Play-off Odds
The National League North play-offs give six more teams the chance to follow Leyton Orient into the Football League proper, and Solihill Moors and Salford City booked their places in the semi-finals by finishing second and third in the table.
Salford City are the favourites to win the play-offs and go into League Two, closely followed by Solihull Moors – this is no surprise as these two teams have avoided the eliminator round by finishing in second and third place.
Salford City – 7/4
Solihill Moors – 15/8
Wrexham – 6/1
AFC Flyde – 6/1
Harrogate Town – 12/1
Eastleigh 20/1
Wrexham have the best form going into the play-offs, having won four of their last five matches of the season and they just missed out on third place in the final National League table by a single point. AFC Fylde were a furter three points behind and then there was a gap of seven points to both Harrogate and Eastleigh. Those two sides have a tough ask to get to the 2019 National League play-off final because they have to play both their eliminator and semi-final matches away from home, so it looks likely that promotion will come from one of the top four in the betting odds.
National League North Play-off Dates 2019
Teams already into the semi-finals:
Chorley
Brackley Town
Eliminator Fixtures
Altrincham vs Blyth Spartans (Wednesday 1st May 7:45pm)
Spennymoor Town vs Bradford PA (Wednesday 1st May 7:45pm)
Semi-finals
Chorley vs Altrincham or Blyth Spartans (Sunday 5th May 3pm)
Brackley Town vs Spennymoor Town or Bradford PA (Sunday 5th May 3pm)
2019 National League North Play-off Final Date:
Sunday 12th May – 3pm – Venue: ground of the highest finishing team.
National League North Play-off Odds
There is one more place in the National League up for grabs through the play-offs, where one of the six teams will be joining league winners Stockport County at National level. Chorley finished just a point beind Stoekport at the top of the table, with Brackley Town a further four points back.
Odds: TBC
The teams in the midweek eliminators include Blyth Spartans, who put together a run of seven straight wins to get their place and they are the form team going into the National League North play-offs, although Altrincham were the highest scorers in the league, with 85 goals. Bradford PA just held onto their place despite losing their last three matches and with that form, it is hard to see them getting past in-fom Spennymoor Town in their eliminator.
National League South Playoff Dates 2019
Teams already into the semi-finals:
Woking
Welling
Eliminator Fixture
Bath City vs Wealdstone (Wednesday 1st May 7:45pm)
There is only one eliminator here because the team that finished 6th (Concord) have been denied a play-off place after failing to meet ground requirements.
Semi-finals
Woking vs Bath City or Wealdstone (Sunday 5th May 3pm)
Welling vs Chelmsford City
2019 National League North Play-off Final Date:
Sunday 12th May – 3pm – Venue: ground of the highest finishing team.
National League South Play-Off Odds
There are only five teams competing in the National League South play-offs because Concord do not meet ground regulations for the National League. This means Chelmsford City have got a bye straight into the semi-finals where they will face third place finishers Welling.
Odds: TBC
Torquay United won this league with ease, with Woking a full 10 points behind in second place. Woking have taken their foot off the gas in recent weeks, knowing they were set to finish in the top three, but that means their form going into the play-offs isn’t great, with just one win in five.
Concord had the best form of the teams who made it into the play-offs and would have been a good bet to win promotion, but they cannot take their place and have to play another season in the National League South.
