Group A
- Turkey
- Italy
- Wales
- Switzerland
Turkey
While some may have considered Turkey an outsider up until recently, this team has been in phenomenal form recently. In their last 5 games in all competitions, they have managed to win 3 matches against Norway, Russia, and the Netherlands, who by the way, are among the top 10 challengers in the whole competition.
Their first game in Euro 2020 will be against Italy on 11th June. Bookmakers’ odds of Turkey finishing at the top of Group A are 9/2, while their odds of winning the Euro 2020 are 50/1. Some of the players in this team that you should keep an eye out for are the 23-year old Enes Ünal, Bünyamin Balcı, and of course, Milan’s own Hakan Çalhanoğlu. Additionally, Burak Yılmaz will likely be their key player. Even though he is way past his prime, the 35-year old is showing that he still has the fire and will capitalize on every given situation.
Italy
Italy is the biggest favourites and currently, they are the best team in Group A. In their past 10 games in all competitions, Gli Azzuri have managed to come out on top 8 times and had 2 draws. It is safe to say that their current form is near-perfect and they will likely put on a massive show.
Bookmakers expect them to finish at the top of Group A, which is why their odds are the lowest – 8/13. Additionally, the Italian national team is in the top 10 contenders to win the Euro 2020 and their current odds of achieving that milestone are 11/1.
Wales
Next up, we have Wales, or as Gareth Bale jokingly once confirmed – ‘Wales, golf, Madrid. In that order’. Even though they do have a plethora of quality players including Bale, Joe Rodon, Daniel James, and Wayne Hennessey, along with Wales’ manager – the legendary Ryan Giggs, this team is actually the biggest underdog in the whole group.
The starting odds that bookmakers gave Wales of finishing first in Group A are 7/1, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are set at 200/1, which are quite mesmerizing for fans that want to try out their luck and bet on them. However, in their last 5 games in all competitions, Wales have just lost against Belgium and that is why they are capable of shocking the rest of the teams in the group.
Switzerland
Our last entry in this article is Switzerland. Granit Xhaka, Xherdan Shaqiri, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Haris Seferovic are just a few of the outstanding players that are part of this team and they are not just looking to qualify for the elimination rounds, they are there to take over and win the Euro 2020.
When it comes to finishing first in Group A, bookmakers’ odds for Switzerland are currently set at 9/2, which makes Switzerland tied with Turkey, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 66/1. In their last 5 competitive matches across all tournaments, Switzerland won 3, lost 1, and drew 1.
Group B
- Denmark
- Belgium
- Finland
- Russia
Denmark
Denmark comes in as one of the biggest favourites in the group. The team has been on a fantastic win streak lately. They won their last 3 competitive matches against Austria, Moldova, and Israel. Not only that, but they proved that they have quite a fierce attack as they scored a total of 14 goals in these three matches. Their defence also held their end as the number of conceded goals was 0. In fact, the only loss that Denmark has in the 10 games is against Belgium (4-2).
It goes without saying that they will be fun to watch as their chances of finishing at the top of the group are high and they are among the favourites to even win Euro 2020. Bookmakers have given Denmark 11/4 odds to finish firsts in Group B, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 33/1.
Belgium
Next up, we have not only the best national team in Group B but one of the best national teams in the world. At the moment, Belgium is at the top of the FIFA ranking list. Their squad consists of some of the best players in the modern era – Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, as well as fierce players such as Dries Mertens, Jan Vertonghen, and Christian Benteke. There is no denying their superiority in this group and this team will be a sight to the eyes.
Bookmakers consider Belgium as one of the biggest favourites to win Euro 2020. Their odds of finishing at the top of Group B are 8/11, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 6/1. The only bigger favourites than Belgium for the championship are England and France.
Finland
Finland comes as the biggest underdog in this group, but sometimes, even the underdogs can pull off a surprise. After all, that is the beauty of football. Each game is unpredictable and any team is capable of pulling the impossible. Some of the players that are part of their squad and deserve a mention are Joona Toivio, Tim Sparv (the captain), and the legendary Teemo Pukki, who was one of the most-talked-about strikers in the Premier League.
Bookmakers have given Finland 16/1 odds to finish at the top of the table in Group B, and 500/1 odds of winning Euro 2020.
Russia
Finally, we have one of the teams that surprised the fans with their rather good recent form. Russia has been on quite the roll lately and they deserve nothing but praise. Although they lost their last competitive game against Slovakia, they come in this tournament fully prepared and motivated to reach the finals.
Their odds of being the first-placed national team in Group B are 4/1, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 66/1.
Group C
- Austria
- Ukraine
- Netherlands
- North Macedonia
Austria
Austria is one of the underdogs in Group C. Even though their form was a bit inconsistent during the Euro 2020 qualifiers as they had a record of 6 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses, they still managed to finish second and qualify for the tournament. Their national team does have a few quality players including David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic and they are more than motivated to help the team rise to the top. Bookmakers gave Austria the following odds: 5/1 to finish first in the group and 80/1 to win the Euro 2020.
Ukraine
While many fans will think that Ukraine is one of the underdogs in this group, there is one thing that you should consider. The Ukraine national team managed to finish 1st during the Euro 2020 qualifiers. Why is that special? Because they had one of the best teams in that group – Portugal. Not only did Ukraine top the table in that group, but they did it flawlessly. They had a total of 20 points and didn’t even lose a match. The average odds that bookmakers give Ukraine to top Group C are 9/2, while their odds of winning the Euro 2020 are 50/1.
Netherlands
Next up, we have the biggest favourite in Group C, as well as one of the top contenders to win the Euro 2020. After spending a few years in a very bad form, the Netherlands have finally found their niche and are back on track, competing with the big dogs. During the Euro 2020 qualifiers, the only team that ranked higher than them was Italy, although it was a close call.
Now, this national team is coming with full speed and the chances that they will finish first in Group C are very high. Bookmakers give the Netherlands 2/5 odds to top the group and place them in the top 10 contenders to win the Euro 2020. Their odds of them achieving that, as told by online bookmakers, are 12/1.
North Macedonia
Finally, we have one of the biggest surprises in the whole tournament. Everyone was shocked to see North Macedonia beat Germany recently and achieve the most prestigious victory in the national team’s history. They showed us that with passion and courage, the unthinkable is possible. North Macedonia is expected to bring that same warrior spirit to the game and thus, present a big challenge for all of the aforementioned teams.
Betting fans will be pleased to hear that the odds of North Macedonia finishing first in Group C and winning the Euro 2020 are massive. They can try out their luck and possibly win a great reward. Bookmakers’ odds of North Macedonia topping Group C are 25/1, while the odds of them winning the Euro 2020 are 500/1.
Group D
- Croatia
- England
- Scotland
- Czech Republic
Croatia
As stated earlier, Croatia were the World Cup finalists back in 2018 and they managed to shock the world with their quality of play, dedication, and sacrifice. This European championship does not look any different to them as they are on the track to continue their fabulous run and write history. Not only that, but the players are looking more motivated than ever since this will be the last chance for many of them to help the team achieve greatness.
The likes of Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic, Ivan Rakitic, and Domagoj Viga are all in their 30s and this will likely be one of the last tournaments for them. With that being said, bookmakers have given Croatia 3/1 odds of finishing first in Group D, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 28/1. One thing that is worth a mention is that Croatia has been a bit inconsistent in their last couple of competitive matches – they had 2 wins and 3 defeats in the last 5 games.
England
Next up, we have the biggest favourite for the Euro 2020 title. Even though England always had some of the best players on the planet, their problem was that they could never work together and achieve the greatness all of us thought they could. After all, their golden generation which had the likes of Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Ferdinand, etc., did not manage to win anything. However, all of that has changed now, and the European Championships is likely ‘to come home’.
The Lions have been on a fantastic recent form as they have lost only 2 out of the last 10 games. Some of the players that are going to be led by Gareth Southgate in this competition are Sterling, Kane, Calver-Lewin, Phil Foden, Mason Mount, Kyle Walker, and Eric Dier. There’s no denying that they are a force to be reckoned with, which is why bookmakers consider them the biggest favourites in Group D.
Their odds of finishing at the top of the group are 2/5, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 5/1. England is the joint favourites with France to win the European championship.
Scotland
Next up, we have the biggest underdog in Group D. Scotland are also one of the teams that have barely managed to qualify for Euro 2020. However, they do mean business and just because they have 2 of arguably the best team in the championship as their opponents, that doesn’t mean that they will make things easy for them. Scotland is more motivated than ever and they are worth looking at because they are always capable of surprising us. And you know what they say, everything is possible in football.
Bookmakers give them 16/1 odds of finishing at the top of Group D and 250/1 odds of actually pulling the biggest surprise and winning Euro 2020. Some players that are worth mentioning are Kieran Tierney, Scott McKenna, as well as Manchester United’s own Scott McTominay.
Czech Republic
Finally, we have yet another underdog that deserves a lot more praise and respect than they receive. The Czech Republic will go all-in into this tournament and will do everything it can to climb to the top. They will present a problem for both Croatia and England, which is why the two favourites should not get overconfident.
Czech Republic’s current odds of finishing at the top of Group D are 12/1 while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 125/1.
Group E
- Spain
- Sweden
- Poland
- Slovakia
Spain
It goes without saying that Spain had the most impressive run from 2008 to 2012. During this period, they were practically unbeaten as they had the best players in the world. Not only that, but the team had perfect harmony, which made them far more lethal. Those days are now gone and even though Spain are not what they used to be, the team possesses a massive threat to the Euro throne.
Their most notable recent win came in 2020 as they demolished Germany 6-0, but they do have quite a few draws – 4 in their last 10 competitive games to be more exact. It will be interesting to see if they can weather the storm in this group and come out on top. Bookmakers give them the odds of 1/3 to finish first in Group E, while their odds of winning the Euro are 8/1.
Sweden
One of the best things about watching Sweden in Euro 2020 is the fact that Zlatan Ibrahimović is likely to return to his national duty and help the team achieve the greatest honour. Although he is 39 years old, he does not show any signs of slowing down. Not only that, but the team is filled with experienced players like Andreas Granqvist (the captain), Sebastian Larsson, and Mikael Lustig, as well as young talents such as Dejan Kulusevski.
The young blood combined with the elderly experience can prove to be a threat for all teams in the group, as well as for all other competitors in Euro 2020. Bookmakers give them odds of 6/1 to finish first in Group E, while their odds of winning the European championship are 80/1.
Poland
If having Spain legends and the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimović wasn’t enough, here comes Poland with one of the deadliest strikers currently in the game – Robert Lewandowski. Other key players in their squad include Wojciech Szczęsny and Piotr Zieliński. Poland’s best-ever run in the Euros was in 2016 when they reached the quarter-finals. Now that the team is stronger than ever, they are looking to improve on that record and do everything they can to win the championship.
In the past 3 Euros, Poland has been recording better results each time, which is why they might climb to the top this time and win the European championship. The odds that bookmakers have given them to reach that milestone are 80/1, while their odds of finishing at the top of Group E are 11/2.
Slovakia
Finally, we have the biggest underdog in Group E, but definitely not a team that needs to be taken out of the equation. Their biggest achievement came while being part of Czechoslovakia as they won the Euro in 1976, while their best result since those days was in Euro 2020 when they reached the round of 16. Slovakia has proven that they can be a force to be reckoned with and have more than what it takes to go past the group stage.
Bookmakers’ odds of Slovakia finishing at the top of Group E are 14/1, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 250/1.
Group F
- Hungary
- Germany
- Portugal
- France
Hungary
We’ll start things off with the biggest underdog in Group F. In the Euro 2016, Hungary qualified for the knockouts after being in a 44-year absence. They were once one of the strongest national teams in the championship, but we all know that times change. Although Hungary is overlooked by many fans, they are capable of taking advantage of the potential errors that the three other teams in this group can make and end up qualifying for the next round.
Fans that love to bet on great odds will be pleased to hear that Hungary’s odds of finishing at the top of Group F are 40/1, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 400/1.
Germany
Next up, we have the badly-wounded Germany. Up until recently, they were among the strongest teams in the world. But their recent form has been extremely unstable. Not only did they lost to Spain 6-0, but they also managed to lose to North Macedonia 1-2 at home. Just a reminder, North Macedonia are the biggest underdogs in this championship.
Nevertheless, the famous German mentality will likely not crack under pressure and thanks to the help of great players such as Serge Gnabry, İlkay Gündoğan, Leon Goretzka, and Leroy Sane, they can come out on top. Their odds of finishing first in Group F are 5/4, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 7/1.
Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo is back again and considering the fact that he is relentless, he won’t stop until he gets his hands on another prestigious trophy. This time, he will be helped by the likes of Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Diogo Jota, and Bruno Fernandes. It is safe to say that Portugal has one of the best teams in the competition. They are looking to win the Euro for the second consecutive time and they are hungry for success.
Although they are facing some fierce competition, the team’s mentality is on another level and they will do everything in their power to reach the highest heights. Their odds of finishing at the top of Group F are 7/2, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 8/1.
France
Finally, we have the joint-favourites for this competition, along with England. It goes without saying that this is France’s golden generation. The team recently proved that they are the best in the world, but don’t think for a second that they will get overconfident. They hold a massive grudge since losing the 2016 final against Portugal and they are back with a vengeance.
In their last 10 games, France has suffered just 1 defeat. That is why bookmakers consider them to be the biggest favourites in this competition and they have given them odds of 11/8 to finish first in Group F and odds of 5/1 to win Euro 2020, joint favourites with England.
Some of the key players in France that deserve a mention are Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, and Raphaël Varane. The star-studded team is on a major quest and will stop at nothing until they get what they came for – the trophy.
