Premier League Fantasy Football Captain Tips Gameweek 18

Who should you have as your Fantasy Football captain for Gameweek 18? The last round of fixtures before Christmas takes place this weekend and with Liverpool not in action, we need to look away from Mo Salah or Sadio Mane in our FPL captains tips.

Vardy’s scoring streak came to an end in Gameweek 17, but the Leicester man still delivered points for his backers. The options look thin on the ground for the last gameweek before Christmas with a lot of the higher placed Premier League teams playing away from home.

 

Who should be FPL GW18 Captain?

Tottenham have a home fixture but it is big London derby against Chelsea, however Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli are all in good form. Manchester City also have a tough game against Leicester City and Arsenal are away at Everton. Man United are also on their travels but do play struggling Watford, so Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial might be decent options for GW 18 captain.

 

Option 1 – Jamie Vardy (10.1m) vs Manchester City

His run of goals may have come to an end, but Vardy continues to deliver the fantasy points. Vardy hasn’t blanked since Gameweek 8 against Liverpool and remains top of the FPL points chart. 11 goals and four assists in his last nine highlights his remarkable consistency. Manchester City isn’t the ideal opponent on paper but just one clean sheet in the last seven suggests this defence is still far from watertight.

 

Option 2 – Marcus Rashford (9.0m) vs Watford

Rashford makes the shortlist for a second week running thanks to the standout fixture of the gameweek. The United attacker failed to score or assist against Everton last time out but has five goals and two assists from the five games prior. Watford were much improved in their 2-0 loss to Liverpool and could pose issues for United, but they remain rooted to the bottom of the table as Nigel Pearson takes charge of his second game.

 

Option 3 – Heung-Min Son (10.0m) vs Chelsea

We complete the ‘failed to score last week’ shortlist with Heung-Min Son. Son was unable to come away with more than two points against Wolves but remains in strong form. The South Korean has three double-figure returns from the last five. He faces an out of sorts Chelsea side who have lost four of their last five in the league.

 

Recommended FPL Captain for Gameweek 18

Despite the tough fixture on paper, we’re sticking with Jamie Vardy who will no doubt give Otamendi and Fernandinho a tough time. Man City were beaten in their last home match against Manchester United and very rarely keep clean sheets with their make-shift backline. Vardy is also the Leicester penalty taker and with Otamendi on the pitch there is always the chance of a spot-kick for the opposition.

Given the tough matches for most big Fantasy Football players, anybody will be a gamble in the captain’s selection, but Jamie Vardy will certainly get chances at the Etihad Stadium.
