It has not been the best of starts for Rochdale in League One action with just one goal scored and a solitary point earned from their opening two matches. Claiming a scoreless home draw against Portsmouth last Sunday was a fair result, but Dale now face a visit to Ipswich with the hosts winning both of their league matches to date without conceding a goal. The Tractor Boys could have won by a greater margin than the 2-0 scoreline at Bristol Rovers last weekend and they could seal a third competitive win this term at Portman Road.

It has been a slow start to the League One campaign for Portsmouth having participated in two goalless draws to date. Losing striker Brett Pitman has not helped attacking options but Pompey now welcome a Wigan outfit which has undergone a Summer upheaval following their controversial relegation from the Championship. Losing the influential Ivan Toney in their attack was a blow for Peterborough and they seemed slightly lightweight in attack when suffering a 2-0 loss at Accrington Stanley on the opening day of their League One campaign. Posh also seemed set to lose against Fleetwood last weekend but for scoring twice in second half added-time to seal an unlikely victory, but they now visit a Sunderland team unbeaten over ninety minutes in competitive action this term. The Black Cats were comfortable winners at Oxford last weekend and a solid defence could allow the hosts to collect all three points.

 

Cambridge vs Tranmere Betting Tip – Cambridge win.

Scoring eight goals without reply in winning both opening League Two matches has continued the good form of Cambridge since appointing Mark Bonner as manager later last season. The U’s have also won at Birmingham this season in cup action and they now welcome Tranmere to the Abbey Stadium with the visitors yet to score in their league campaign following relegation last term. Rovers have lost the services of long-serving manager Micky Mellon and last week’s 3-0 home defeat by Cheltenham was a real setback. A home win for Cambridge is forecasted.

 

Cheltenham vs Grimsby Betting Tip – Cheltenham win.

Losing their first League Two home match of the season when allowing Morecambe to score a very late winner was a blow for Cheltenham especially after suffering defeat in the promotion playoff semi-final a few months earlier. However, the Robins responded by winning 3-0 at Tranmere last weekend and now host a Grimsby outfit yet to score in league action this term and beaten 4-0 by Salford last Saturday. The Struggling Mariners could be facing a third successive league defeat.
