FPL Gameweek 23: 3 replacements for Kane, Son and Alexander-Arnold

Premier League betting tips

In a week that has seen FPL stars, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Trent Alexander-Arnold all declared unavailable for the upcoming fixtures, Gameweek 23 could prove to be an important one.

With FPL bosses across the country frantically jumping into the transfer market, we have found three ideal replacements for the injured trio:

Out: Trent Alexander-Arnold – £5.1million
In: Luke Shaw – £5million

If you’re one of many Fantasy Football bosses looking for a replacement for the injured Trent-Alexander Arnold ahead of Gameweek 23, then look no further.

While Manchester United’s new attacking identity under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is gaining a long list of admirers, the Norweigan legend has done an admirable job of improving the Reds’ defensive issues.

Now picking up back to back clean sheets for the first time this season, England international Luke Shaw is enjoying a very bright start to 2019.

Earning 13 FPL points over the past two Gameweeks, Shaw’s overall tally of 49 is the best return of any Manchester United defender heading into Gameweek 23.

With Brighton traveling to Old Trafford this weekend, the 23-year-old should be confident of extending his clean sheet run.

The Seagulls have managed to find the net only nine times in their 11 matches away from the Amex, the fourth worst record in the Premier League.

Now owned by just 7.3% of FPL bosses, Shaw would be a wise investment, especially as after hosting Brighton on Saturday United’s following Premier League matchups are against Burnley, Leicester, and Fulham.

Out: Harry Kane – £12.5million
In: Marcus Rashford – £7.5million

It was the news that no Tottenham fan wanted to hear.

With it confirmed that Harry Kane will be out until March after injuring his ankle, 25% of FPL bosses are left in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer.

Cue, Marcus Rashford.

While one England forward will be watching from the sidelines over the next eight weeks, another one of Gareth Southgate’s attacking options is having his most successful spell of the season.

Although Luke Shaw might be a standout performer for Manchester United at the back, it has been Rashford’s goalscoring exploits that are starting to steal the headlines at Old Trafford.

Scoring the winner in last Sunday’s 1-0 win away at Wembley, Rashford has now found the net in his last three appearances and has recorded 30 FPL points over the last three Gameweeks.

Now playing more central and spearheading United’s attack, the 21-year-old has also recorded 18 more points than Romelu Lukaku this season.

With Rashford costing a staggering £5million less than the now injured Kane, you get both an FPL star in scintillating form and a huge amount of spare cash to play with.

Out: Son Heung-min – £8.7million
In: Raheem Sterling – £11.3million

Sadly for Spurs fans, the bad news has just kept coming at the start of 2019.

Along with their talismanic striker facing a lengthy spell in the stands, the departure of Son Heung-min to the Asian Cup could not have come at a worse time.

While the South Korean international was quickly becoming an FPL favourite, the Tottenham winger could miss up to five Gameweeks if Korea progress to the Final.

If you are still one of the 8% looking to find a replacement for Son, then that man should be Manchester City’s, Raheem Sterling.

With the Sky Blues now just a single goal from already netting 100 goals across all competitions this season, the England man has started 2019 in impressive fashion.

Despite managing just one goal in December, he has now provided an assist in each of the last three Gameweeks, coinciding with his side’s current three-match unbeaten run.

Already racking up a remarkable 133 FPL points this campaign, only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah hold a better return from any midfielders across the game.

With a matchup against Huddersfield in Gameweek 23, Sterling should be confident of extending his points haul.

Now sat rock bottom of the Premier League, the Terriers saw David Wagner leave earlier in the week and have now shipped 39 Premier League goals this season.

They have also kept only two clean sheets at home, the most recent of which came back in Gameweek 11.
