FPL Gameweek 25 tips – 3 stars you should be bringing in this weekend
The Deadline Day deals are done and all attention will be turned back to the world of FPL this weekend.
As the Premier League title race takes another dramatic twist, bosses across the country will be looking for a push in the second half of the season.
Ahead of a hectic Gameweek 25, we have taken a look at three FPL stars you should be looking to bring in this weekend:
Artur Boruc – £3.9million
After Eddie Howe made the decision to drop long-standing number one Asmir Begovic ahead of Gameweek 23, few would have expected Artur Boruc’s eye-catching return.
Making seven saves and playing a key role in Bournemouth’s 4-0 win over Chelsea on Wednesday, the 36-year-old kept a clean sheet and also left the Vitality with 10 points.
Now recording back to back clean sheets in both Gameweek 23 and 24, Boruc is yet to concede since he returned between the sticks.
Picking up bonus points in both of the Cherries’ two victories, the former Celtic shot-stopper should be confident of extending his points tally over the weekend.
On Saturday evening, Boruc and co will travel to South Wales to face a Cardiff side who have struggled since the turn of the New Year.
Slipping into the relegation zone and now chasing a four-point buffer from Premier League safety, it will be the Bluebirds form in the final third giving Neil Warnock the biggest headache.
Cardiff have now scored just one goal in their last five matches across all competitions and Saturday’s hosts have not scored in South Wales since Gameweek 18.
With Boruc now owned by just 5.8% of FPL bosses and a potential steal at £3.9million, Bournemouth’s new first choice keeper could be a wise investment.
Son Heung-min – £8.6million
While Son Heung-min may have been devastated by South Korea’s early departure from the Asian Cup, Tottenham fans and FPL bosses across the country will be feeling less sympathetic.
In a time that has seen Harry Kane and Dele Alli sidelined with injury problems, the 26-year-old’s departure on international duty couldn’t have come at a worse time.
However, after crashing out of both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup in the space of four days, Mauricio Pochettino was able to call upon Son ahead of Gameweek 24.
Returning to Tottenham’s starting XI for their 2-1 win over Watford in midweek, the winger once again led Spurs’ charge and will no doubt be the focal point of their attack for the upcoming fixtures.
Bagging a goal and also picking up two bonus points at Wembley on Wednesday, Son has now recorded an outstanding 78 points in just his last eight Gameweeks.
Becoming just the second Spurs player to break the 100 point barrier this campaign, the Tottenham man sits eighth for the most point collected by a midfielder this season.
Finding the net in five of his last eight Gameweeks at Wembley, Tottenham will welcome Newcastle to the capital on Saturday.
While Rafa Benitez’s side managed to pick up a very shocking 2-1 win over Manchester City last week, the Magpies have recorded just one away victory since the end of November.
Also recording just a single clean sheet on the road since Gameweek eight, it seems like a smart time for FPL bosses to bring Son back in, especially as he is currently owned by just 7.1% of managers after his short layoff.
Paul Pogba – £8.7million
Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s winning start to life at Manchester United may have come to an abrupt end in their 2-2 draw with Burnley in midweek, Paul Pogba appears to still be going from strength to strength.
Relishing the opportunity to play in the Reds’ newfound attacking style, the World Cup winner once again found the net on Wednesday and is quickly becoming an FPL MVP.
Now owned by almost 40% of bosses across the country, Pogba has now recorded six goals and five assists in his last six games.
Adding another seven points to his tally against the Clarets in midweek, the United midfielder has now recorded 69 points since Gameweek 18.
In fact, already bagging 120 FPL points this campaign, the 26-year-old is the only Manchester United player to break the 100 point barrier.
With Pogba and co now eyeing a surprise Champions League push, the Reds will travel to the King Power Stadium for Gameweek 25.
While Claude Puel’s side may have managed to pick up an eye-catching 1-1 draw against Liverpool in Gameweek 24, the Foxes have struggled entering the New Year.
Losing their last three Premier League appearances on the bounce, the former champions have also failed to win their last two home matches.
Slumping to a pair of defeats against Cardiff (Gameweek 20) and Southampton (Gameweek 22), Pogba should be looking to extend his FPL points haul on Saturday.
