Reasons for this Weekend’s Football Tips

In the absence of Premier League and Championship action this weekend, this Saturday accumulator bet concentrates on games in the third, fourth and sixth tiers of English football with decent home teams Guiseley and Dorking tipped to win their respective National League fixtures. Several goals have been a feature of recent games played by Peterborough and they could have claimed a sixth victory in eight League One games but for conceding a 95th penalty equaliser during a 3-3 draw at Wycombe last weekend. Posh will now aim to seal a fourth successive league win at London Road when welcoming a Lincoln outfit which beat Sunderland 2-0 last Saturday. However, the Imps were winless in league action during September and have earned just one point from their latest five games on the road. Another home win is tipped for Peterborough in this weekend’s football tips.

 

Portsmouth vs Gillingham Betting Tip – Portsmouth win.

Just one win earned from their opening seven League One matches was not the anticipated start to the season for Portsmouth but there have been signs of a revival at Fratton Park. Two successive league victories which included a very late winner netted at Doncaster last Saturday suggests Pompey may now be producing the form expected of one the ante-post promotion favourites. Visitors Gillingham can expect a stern test especially after losing 3-0 and 4-0 in their last two competitive games on the road. The Gills have also yet to win a league fixture on away soil this season and are set to lose this match.

 

Morecambe vs Bradford Betting Tip – Bradford win.

Having earned just a solitary League Two victory this term when winning 1-0 at Macclesfield during August, it has not been an encouraging start to the campaign for Morecambe. Eleven goals were conceded in five winless games last month although they were 1-0 ahead at Port Vale last weekend before being reduced to ten players and then suffering a 3-1 loss. The Shrimps now host a Bradford team which has lost just once in six league outings when narrowly beaten at high-flying Cheltenham. A fifth win in seven league games could be sealed by Bradford.

 

Guiseley vs Altrincham Betting Tip – Guiseley win.

Although there has been an element of inconsistency in recent Guiseley performances, they have been a decent team on home soil this term with just one National League North defeat suffered and a 3-0 home win against Herford secured in their last league fixture at Nethermoor Park. Altrincham will be the next visitors to the venue and despite some encouraging recent FA Cup results, they have lost their previous four league games on the road with one goal scored and ten conceded. Another loss is looming for Altrincham.

 

Dorking Wanderers vs Hungerford Betting Tip – Dorking Wanderers win.

As part of a recent revival for Dorking Wanderers, the team is unbeaten in their last five National League South games with three victories earned from their latest four matches. Wanderers had won their opening three matches of the season before a mini-slump in form and now host a Hungerford Town team struggling at the foot of the league table and losing five of their six away fixtures. Having lost four of their last five matches, Hungerford face another defeat at Dorking.
