Blackpool vs Peterborough Tip – Peterborough to Score Over 1.5 Team Goals

Blackpool may have started the season well, but they’ve hit a poor patch of form and have won just two of their last eleven League One games. The Seasiders have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net in recently weeks and despite hitting the woodwork late on, they drew another blank against Burton last weekend. They’ve won just one of their last five matches at Bloomfield Road and manager Simon Grayson has been accused of setting up ‘too negatively’ according to some fans. Peterborough can certainly not be accused of sitting back with Posh scoring for fun in the third tier. They’ve scored 36 times in their opening 15 matches and have been involved in some hugely entertaining ties. Ivan Toney, Marcus Maddison and Mo Eisa have scored the majority of those goals although other players have chipped in of late. Posh have netted 14 times in their last six matches and they’ve netted at least two goals in five of their first seven away games. Curtis Tilt is suspended for the hosts and that will lead to a defensive re-shuffle – not ideal against the division’s top goalscorers.

 

Wycombe vs Shrewsbury Tip – Under 2.5 Goals

Wycombe are virtually impossible to beat. Gareth Ainsworth’s side have lost just one of their opening 15 matches in League One this season and haven’t tasted defeat since September 14th. At home, they’ve recently kept clean sheets against both Sunderland and Pompey and have conceded just a single goal in their last three matches. That’s bad news for Shrewsbury, who have not been as potent on the road recently. Salop’s last three results on their travels have been 0-0, 0-1 and 0-0 and although some fans have accused Sam Ricketts of setting up for a point – it’s a tactic that appears to be working. They come off the back of a victory over Sunderland at the Montgomery Waters and their back-line will be full of confidence. This game will be an interesting watch, although it may not be a pick for the neutral. Both sides defend diligently and have excellent control over the game. One goal may be enough to settle it.

 

Coventry vs Accrington Tip – Coventry Win

After a brief dalliance with inconsistency, Coventry appear to be back to their best. Mark Robins’ side have climbed to sixth and are unbeaten in their last three matches. Their 2-1 victory over Fleetwood at St.Andrews was a superb result and they followed it up by holding free-scoring Peterborough to a 2-2 draw at London Road. The Sky Blues are a young side who are bound to have peaks and troughs throughout the campaign although they could be too lively for an Accrington side who have struggled on their travels. Accy have won just one of eight on the road so far and have conceded six times in their last two matches away from the Crown Ground. John Coleman’s side are a little unpredictable and they do have their moments, but their 1-0 defeat to Gillingham despite playing well highlights their vulnerabilities.
