Next England Manager Odds at bet365 – Eddie Howe the New Favourite

Next England manager odds

Following the confirmation that Gareth Southgate is stepping down as England manager, the bookies were quick to offer odds on the next England manager, with Graham Potter originally installed as the favourite.

In a statement, Southgate said: “As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England. It has meant everything to me, and I have given it my all.

“But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter. Sunday’s final in Berlin against Spain was my final game as England manager.”

However, as the dust settles after Southgate’s resignation, Eddie Howe has emerged as the favourite in the latest next England manager odds at bet365. The Newcastle manager is rumoured to be interested in the position and he is currently available at odds of 9/4.

The current England under-21 manager Lee Carsley has seen a steady stream of money since Tuesday’s announcement and at the time of writing he is 10/3 to take the step up to the Senior team, with Potter at 12/5.

Lee Carsley would be following the path trodden by Gareth Southgate to be the England manager and his Under-21 side have been playing some great football, culminating in them winning the European Championships last summer.

What are Jurgen Klopp’s odds to be next England manager?

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is 10/1 with bet365 to become the next England manager but surely he will not consider this role for his next move. He said he was exhausted and in need of a break and so it is unlikely that one of the hardest jobs in football will appeal to the German at this stage.

Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has said there is no way Klopp would take the England job and that we should have an English manager in charge of the nation team, especially after the failures of Sven and Capello in the past.

bet365 trading expert Steve Freeth said: “Southgate raised the bar as England manager but unfortunately for him and the country, the wait for a major trophy goes on and now all eyes are on the next manager market.

“In truth, the market currently offers no clue with a whole host of replacements being backed to succeed Southgate.”

Eddie Howe 9/4
Graham Potter 12/5
Lee Carsley 10/3
Jurgen Klopp 10/1
Mauricio Pochettino 12/1
Frank Lampard 14/1
Thomas Tuchel 14/1
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 25/1
Jose Mourinho 25/1
Pep Guardiola 25/1

Mauricio Pochettino is without a job at this time and it is rumoured he does have his admirers in the FA, but would they risk another foreign manager? Frank Lampard is available at odds of 14/1 to be the next England manager but after his failures at Chelsea (twice) and Everton, it would be a big risk to take – the same can be said for Steven Gerrard.

Whoever takes the Englang managers job, they will know there is little room for improvement after England reached another European Championship final in Germany – this followed the 2020 final at Wembley, a semi-final at World Cup 2018 and agonising World Cup 2022 quarter final loss to France. England fans want a better style of football – which they will certainly get with Howe, Potter or Carsley – but will that return the trophy they are craving or will be it more disappointment for the National team?
