Paul Pogba backs Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to get Manchester United job full-time

With everyone around Old Trafford crossing their fingers that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will extend his stay at Manchester United, one of the Red Devils’ biggest stars have given the Norweigan icon his backing.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Wednesday morning, Paul Pogba has announced that he is one of many hoping that the 46-year-old will be installed as United’s full-time boss.

While Solskjaer’s current deal at Old Trafford is meant to see him make a return to parent club Molde at the end of the season, it has been heavily reported that he will be handed the United job on a permanent basis.

Pogba back Solskjaer to stay

Since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho back in December, the former striker has helped build quite the revolution and one man in particular has relished his arrival.

Despite enduring their worst start to a campaign in 28 years under Mourinho, Solskjaer has only lost a single top-flight match since taking charge and now sees the Reds sat just two points adrift of Arsenal.

Now transforming into the player that United spent £90million on back in 2016, Pogba has bagged nine goals in 17 matches under Solskjaer and is playing a vital part in their push for a top-four finish.

It hasn’t just been in the Premier League were the 46-year-old has helped United flourish.

Pulling off a famous 3-1 win away at PSG earlier in the month, the Red Devils dramatically booked their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s Champions League and secured a showdown with Barcelona for a spot in the final four.

Earlier in the season, it appeared the Pogba’s second tenure at United was drawing to an abrupt end after the 26-year-old was involved in a number of high profile battles with Mourinho.

Speaking with Sky Sports News on Wednesday, the World Cup-winning midfielder discussed his desire for Solskjaer to extend his stay and also spoke about the freedom that he has brought back to the camp.

“Of course we want him to stay,”

“The results have been great. I have a great relationship with him, he has a great relationship with the players.

“When a player is happy, he wants to keep being happy. Solskjaer deserves it. He knows the club, he knows everything about the club.

“He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players.

“This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results that we had before.”
