Premier League Handicap Betting Odds 24/25 and Predictions
The Premier League handicap market is always a popular one to bet on for punters and the odds for the 2024/25 handicap have been released by bet365.
Aston Villa won the Premier League handicap 2023/24 after a fantastic season under Unai Emery saw them qualify for the Champions League, and take advantage of their 32 point start on the handicap to top the table come the end of the season.
bet365 have given Aston Villa a +24 handicap for this season which could once again be a good bet at 15/1, and Steve Freeth from the firm said the following:
“This season’s Handicap makes fascinating reading and we could be taking another chance by offering the Spaniard’s outfit at +24, but maybe we’ll see a better showing from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle in 2024/25.
“Crystal Palace could have their backers after the way they ended the last campaign, and could Ipswich follow in the footsteps of Sheffield United in 2019/20 by winning with a handicap of over 50 points?”
How does Premier League Handicap Betting Work?
To understand the Premier League handicap betting system, you need to know the starting handicaps of all the teams. The easiest way to explain how this works is by saying that all the teams start with their handicap points total. So for the 2024/25 season, Manchester City will start on 0 points because they are predicted to win the title. bet365 have Arsenal starting on +2 points, Liverpool on +9, Chelsea on +16, Manchester United on +18 etc.
Effectively, how the Premier League handicap betting works is at the end of the season, you add the handicap onto the points total for each team, and whoever has the most points COMBINED, wins the handicap table.

Arsenal finished second in the 2023/24 Premier League handicap table with 99 points after getting 89 points in the season, plus their 10 handicap points.

Premier League 2024/45 Handicap Starting Points
For the 2024/25 season, bet365 have released their handicap points and once again, Manchester City will be starting from scratch. Guardiola’s side have won four titles in a row but none of those have been enough to win the handicap table. The scratch team is usually one to avoid for handicap predictions.
Arsenal will only be getting a 2 points start this season and that doesn’t look enough to win the handicap table and Liverpool are too much of an unknown quantity under Arne Slot.
Team | Handicap | Odds |
Man City | 0 | 15/1 |
Arsenal | (+2) | 15/1 |
Liverpool | (+9) | 15/1 |
Chelsea | (+16) | 15/1 |
Man Utd | (+18) | 15/1 |

Manchester United were a flop last season and it could be another tough campaign for Erik Ten Hag and Chelsea are in the same boat as Liverpool, with the unknowns surrounding their new manager.
Towards the mid-handicap, Crystal Palace will be a popular choice starting on 34 points after a strong end to last season when Oliver Glasner guided them to 1oth place after the side flirted with relegation until the latter part of the season. A lot will depend on whether Eberechi Eze will stay at Crystal Palace following the departure of Olise to Bayern Munich.
Everton outperformed their expectations last season, staying up comfortably despite points deductions and Sean Dyche has made some early moves in the transfer market this time around. A couple more additions could see Everton improve once again and with a +42 start on the Premier League handicap, this could be one to keep an eye on. Last season, they amassed 48 points before deductions and they did that without a player scoring over 10 goals, so if any of their forwards can step up it should be a more productive season for the Blue half of Merseyside.
Of the promoted teams, Southampton look the best equipped to finish higher in the league table but it is hard to see them getting the 50 points they would need to challenge at the top of the Premier League handicap.
Premier League Handicap 2024/25 Predictions
Wolevs are also starting with +42 and Gary O’Neil has done a stellar job since his appointment. Max Kilman has gone to West Ham but they have money to spend and will be hoping to keep hold of the likes of Jose Sa and Pedro Neto. Rodrigo Gomes looks a good signing and he could help at the top of the pitch. We’d predict Wolves need to get around 58 points to top the Premier League handicap table so they’d need an improvement on last season, but with some better VAR decisions in their favour and a better start to the season, they could be the best bet for the 2024/45 handicap.
Everton would be the second team to have a bet on in the Premier League handicap odds this season – it would only been a small punt but they are shaping up well to turn the tide in their final season at Goodison Park.
