Chelsea betting tips

Struggling to find any kind of stability since opening up the new campaign and facing a major uphill battle in their bid to book a European return, Thiago Silva has been discussing Chelsea’s tricky start to proceedings.

Silva states that Chelsea need ‘time to improve’

Crashing back down to earth on Saturday lunchtime as they slumped to a 2-0 loss at home against west London rivals Brentford, Chelsea certainly find themselves in the midst of a public Premier League struggle.

While there might have been much excitement around Stamford Bridge over the summer as the Blues appointed former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are still battling it out in the bottom-half of the table.

Now tipped as a real outside contender to book a crucial Champions League return this season, Thiago Silva has been speaking about Chelsea’s initial struggles under Pochettino.

Although the veteran defender might have praised the work that Pochettino is doing behind the scenes, Silva has stated that the Blues ‘need time to improve’.

“We have a new manager – we need time to improve. Under posh we train stronger, we run more.”

Silva discusses his looming retirement

While Silva might have cemented his spot as a firm fan favourite around SW6 since arriving in west London back in August 2020, the 39-year-old had admitted that he is in the twilight of his career.

Now entering the final 12 months of his current deal at Stamford Bridge, it remains to be seen if the Brazilian superstar will be rewarded with a contract extension by the Chelsea hierarchy.

Although a potential final return to Brazil has been suggested over the past couple of months, Silva has been discussing the prospect of his looming relegation.

“The end of my career is getting closer… it’s not easy.”

“You have to think about when you want to retire, where do you go as a final club, the family, my kids play at Chelsea.”

“I’m just focused on enjoying my final year of contract at Chelsea.”

Knowing that the Blues are in desperate need of a timely boost in midweek, Chelsea turn their attention to EFL Cup duties on Wednesday night when they welcome Championship outfit Blackburn to Stamford Bridge.
