Rennes vs Arsenal Preview

The French side go into this tie with Arsenal in really good form. They have only lost one of their last eight matches and on home soil, they have not been beaten in their last 12 matches. This will be no easy game for Arsenal and Unai Emery will be well aware of the dangers of the French side.

This campaign will go down in history as Rennes’ most successful European campaign ever and they won’t want to to end at the last 16 stage. Their priority here should be to keep Arsenal from scoring but that looks a difficult task as they have only managed one clean sheet in their last five fixtures.

Arsenal were shocked in the away leg of their last round tie when BATE Borisov beat them 1-0 in Bulgaria but the Gunners bounced back to win the return leg3-0 at the Emirates. They have been poor on the road all season so we’re predicting both teams will score in this one, giving Arsenal the vital away goal.

Lacazette will be missing from both legs of this tie after picking up a two match ban following his sending off against BATE in the last round, so Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be responsible for leading the Arsenal line.

Arsenal have been sharing their Europa League goals around the side this season and four players are currently sat on two goals – two of them are defenders, one is the injured Danny Welbeck and he other is Aubameyang. Ozil scored a brilliant goal in the 5-1 win over Bournemouth recently and is expected to start the match given that Lacazette is suspended.
