Horse Racing Tips: Stakes Race Double for Friday at Newbury and Hamilton

Two Listed contests, one for 2-year-olds and one for 3-year-olds, at different ends of the country take centre stage on Friday and our horse racing tips pick out two selections for a double.

We’ve pored over the form book and come up with a value-for-money double, which we hope will pick up some ammunition for the weekend.

 

Newbury

3:20 IRE Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish Rose Bowl Stakes

Officially, Bosh has 7lb to find with the best of these, but Richard Hannon’s colt has improved with every run so far and may be able to continue his upward curve. From a speedy family, the son of Profitable won his maiden at York last month, the form of which has been franked by the second, Gis A Sub, who won a conditions stakes at Pontefract two weeks later. Bosh followed up in a novice stakes race over course and distance two weeks ago and, while he faces stiffer opposition this time – notably in the form of Bond Chairman, who finished a never-nearer fourth in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot – it remains to be seen where his limitations lie.

Hamilton

8:00 British Stallions Studs EBF Glasgow Stakes

Title was beaten, but far from disgraced, when third in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, especially granted that the winner, Alenquer, had previously edged out the subsequent Derby winner, Adayar, in the Sandown Classic Trial. He has a neck to find with Aleas on their running at Newbury last October and connections reach for first-time blinkers, which is a slight worry, but he appears less ground-dependent than his rival. He has winning form on the prevailing good going, in an above-average Yarmouth maiden, and his trainer is 4-12 with his 3-year-olds at Hamilton in the last five seasons.
