ITV Racing Tips

Saturday’s ITV Racing comes from Ayr and Newbury with eight races covered live. The Mill Reef is the big race on the day from Newbury where Dhabab looks set to go off as favourite.

At Ayr, there is a Group 3 sprint over 6 furlongs and Henry has picked out his horse racing tips from each of the TV races, see them below.

1:55 Ayr

The first race from Ayr is the Doonside Cup Stakes, a listed race over the 1m2f trip.

It’s EUCHEN GLEN (11/4) for me in this. He just relishes this Ayr track winning 3 of his 4 starts here. He is proven on this quick ground too and the trainer Jim Goldie’s horses appear to be in fine fettle at the moment. I don’t rate the favourite Juan Elcano and I think EUCHEN GLEN can sit just off him and pick him off in the closing stages.

2:15 Newbury

Next up is the 2:15 at Newbury which is a Group 3 for the speedsters over 5f.

It’s KHAADEM NB (10/3) for here. A horse I’ve always thought would be well suited by 5f on quick ground and he proved it when breaking the track record last time out at Doncaster on his first attempt over 5f. That win will have done his confidence the world of good and he can go in again here.

2:40 Ayr

The first real competitive handicap of the day comes up at 2:40 and it is the Ayr Silver Cup handicap over 6f.

I like BICKERSTAFFE EW (14/1) here for the Karl Burke team. An unexposed 3 year-old who has shown useful progression throughout this campaign. He won a decent handicap two starts ago at Ascot over this trip beating a solid yardstick in Dazzling Dan comfortably. I’m happy to put a line through his last run at Goodwood as the ground was soft there and he prefers a sounder surface. Hopefully the rain stays away for him on Saturday.

2:50 Newbury

The 2:50 at Newbury is the Legacy Cup Stakes, a Group 3 contest over 1m3f.

I expect AL AASY (4/5) to win this race and win it well. He just looks a class apart from his market rivals based on what we’ve seen this season. His first two runs this season where at this Group 3 level and he didn’t come off the bridle. He drops back down to Group 3 level here and he will take the world of beating.

3:05 Ayr

It’s Group 3 action for the 2 year-old fillies next as it’s the Firth Of Clyde Fillies Stakes over the 6f trip.

The one I like in this is SCOTS GRACE (6/1). She was an impressive winner on debut at Kempton and her 5th place effort last time out in a Group 3 back at Kempton can be upgraded as she was unlucky in running that day. She likes to be held up and I think we will get a strong pace here today which will suit her well. I expect her to be one of the last off the bridle and hopefully she can pick them all off inside the last furlong.

3:25 Newbury

A tricky handicap is next up for punters over at Newbury. It is a 1m2f contest and there is a few unexposed sorts in this line-up.

The one for me here is KING OF CLUBS (11/2). An impressive winner last time out over slightly shorter at Sandown where he stayed on very strongly to get up close home. He’s raised 7lb for that effort but I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet. I also think the further he goes the better he’ll be so again I expect him to be flying home at the death and hopefully he’s another who can pass them all and get himself into the winners enclosure again.

3:40 Ayr

The Ayr Gold Cup over 6f is next on the agenda and it’s as competitive as ever. A race full of promising young sorts and some of our proven favourites.

I think we have a group horse in a handicap horse and that horse is GREAT AMBASSADOR NAP (5/1). He finished third in the Stewards Cup behind Commanche Falls who reopposes today three starts back but he was drawn on the wrong side that day and he did win his side of the draw pretty easily. Since that effort, he’s won his last two starts easily and I think this strongly run handicap over 6f will prove right up his street. A worthy favourite in my opinion.

4:00 Newbury

The last race on ITV is the Mill Reef Stakes, a Group 2 race over 6f for the 2 year-olds.

My selection here is GIS A SUB (7/1). I think he might get his own way in front here and he may just prove difficult to get past. He ran a fine race last time out in the Gimcrack at York finishing a good second behind Lusail. He has improved with each outing and hopefully he can continue that progression today and take this Group 2. James Doyle is an eye catching jockey booking.
