He is just 1-8 over hurdles, but did complete a hat-trick over fences last year off a 7lb mark, so is undeniably well treated.

Alkopop returns to action after a 241-day break, but looks to have been found a decent opportunity to make a winning chasing debut. The Jukebox Jury gelding showed progressive form over hurdles last season, winning twice on heavy going and, despite 12st 2lb, doesn’t look impossibly handicapped in a race that may not take that much winning.

Tamaska remains 4lb higher in the weights than when winning a similar race at Doncaster in August, but was only beaten three-quarters of a length, off today’s mark, over course and distance 18 days ago. If a first-time visor can eke out just a little improvement, he must have every chance of resuming winning ways.
