Aintree Day 2 Tips for the ITV Racing Live Races on Friday 8th April 2022

Day 2 of the Aintree Grand National Festival features five more live races on ITV Racing and Henry has picked his betting tip for each race along with a preview.
The Grand National is the big event on Saturday but before that, we have another day of top class action where some horses from Cheltenham will be looking to win again, and some will want to right the wrongs from 4 weeks ago.
Henry has looked through the five live races and picked his Aintree betting tips for Friday 8th April.
2:20 Aintree
The 2:20 race from Aintree is a Grade 1 contest for the 2m novice hurdlers known as the Top Novices Hurdle.
My selection is JONBON (5/4). He was second in the Supreme last time out well beaten by Constitution Hill but that was still a great effort. He was faultless in his three novice hurdle victories before that and he can get back on the winning trail here. El Fabiolo will have to prove he’s good enough still. He will have to be really good to beat an on for Jonbon. The rest of the field are handicappers. The track will suit Jonbon and he won’t mind if they go steady.
2:55 Aintree
The 2:55 contest is more Grade 1 action, it is the Betway Mildway Novices Chase over the 3m trip.
The one I like here is AHOY SENOR (13/2). The flat left-handed track is ideal for this horse from what we’ve seen so far. He didn’t jump with any fluency and still ran L’Homme Presse close at Cheltenham. This test might suit more due to their only being three rivals. He beat Bravemansgame here last year and he’s certainly the value selection here at the prices.
3:30 Aintree
The 3:30 from Aintree is the Grade 1 Marsh Chase, formerly known as the Melling Chase. It’s an open Grade 1 over the intermediate 2m4f trip.
The one for me is FAKIR D’OUDARIES (13/8) NAP. I’ve got him as the nap of the meeting. He was so impressive in winning this race last year and this will have been his main target again this season. This isn’t a strong renewal of the Grade 1 and he comes here fresh after skipping Cheltenham which is a bonus. He won’t have any ground conditions against the handicappers.
4:05 Aintree
The 4:05 from Aintree is the first chance for the professional jockeys to get a sighter of the National fences. It’s the Randox Topham Chase over 2m5f.
My selection is FOXY JACKS (25/1) EW. I get the impression he will relish this unique test. He’s a great jumper most of the time who likes to sit close to the pace which is ideal for this type of contest. He was travelling well in the Ultima last time out and just made a surprising mistake three out. He’s a lovely each-way price here and there’s scope for improvement off this current mark.
4:40 Aintree
The finale on Day 2 of the Aintree Grand National Meeting is the Sefton Novices Hurdle, another Grade 1 but this time for the staying novice hurdlers over 3m.
The horse I like in this is GELINO BELLO (6/1) NB. Another horse then skipped Cheltenham and ended up at Newbury in March instead. He won easily at Newbury albeit it wasn’t a deep race. However, that will have done him the world of good and he’s ran consistently good races throughout the year and showed a willing attitude. He won here at Aintree earlier in the year so a return to this track has to be a positive. I don’t think he’s finished improving and again, this isn’t a strong Grade 1.
