Royal Ascot Day 5 Tips – Preview and Betting Tip for Every Race on Saturday 18th June
Royal Ascot 2022 enters it’s fifth and final day on Saturday and we have another Group 1 sprint as the feature race, but there is a great supporting card and Henry has been through all seven races and picked his best bet from each.

2:30 Ascot
The opener on the final day of Royal Ascot is the Chesham Stakes, a listed race for 2-year olds over 7f.
The favourite looks tough to beat but I’ll take him on at the odds. I like CRYPTO FORCE (10/1) EW here and I expect him to at least hit the frame. He won well on debut at the Curragh coming from the back of the field to win going away over by over 2L. I think he’ll come on for that effort and how he finished that day suggests this stiff Ascot finish will suit him well.
3:05 Ascot
It’s Group 3 action next up as we have the Jersey Stakes over 7f.
I’ve landed on STAR GIRLS AALMAL (7/1) EW here. She was a good winner on her seasonal reappearance before proving to be very unlucky last time out in the Irish 1000 Guineas. She probably would have finished second if she seen daylight that day and she’ll be well suited by the strong gallop Noble Truth will set here. She’ll be coming home we’ll as she’s proven over further and I get the impression we haven’t seen the best of her yet.
3:40 Ascot
The 3:40 race is the Hardwicke Stakes, a Group 2 contest over the 1m4f distance.
Again, the favourite Hurricane Lane will be tough to beat but BROOME (11/2) EW looks an each-way bet to nothing here. He is a proven Group 1 performer with several Group 1 wins. Therefore, this Group 2 race should hold no fears. He is better than the rest on all known form and Hurricane Lane returns from a lengthy absence which is interesting.
4:20 Ascot
The 4:20 is the feature race, the Grouo 1 Platinum Jubilee Stakes over 6f.
I’ve landed on SACRED (12/1) EW here. I think dropping to sprinting is ideal for Sacred as she has always looked very pacy and she was never seen to her best effect when she tried to see out the mile. The fast ground will suit her well and she’ll have plenty of cover before coming with her run. She always runs well fresh so the break won’t be an issue and this has been the main target for a while.
5:00 Ascot
Next up at 5:00 we have the always competitive renewal of the Wokingham Stakes, again ran over 6f.
I’ve landed on SILVER SAMURAI (12/1) EW here. He’s been on a bit of a roll recently after previously struggling to get his head in front. A winner on his last two starts, I’d say his latest victory at Haydock was a career. This type of rest looks sure to suit him well as a strong gallop to aim at over 6f looks perfect. He’s drawn low which appears the place to be and trainer Marco Botti has already been in the winners enclosure this week.
5:35 Ascot
The 5:35 race is the Golden Gate Stakes, trappy handicap over 1m2f.
I like MISSED THE CUT (5/2) NAP for the George Boughey stable. An unexposed sort who improved from her debut effort to win her next two starts well. She proved that good ground was no issue for her last time out when winning easily at Salisbury and I think a mark of 95 is more than fair for a horse that appears to be on a steep upward curve.
6:10 Ascot
The finale of a bonanza week is the Queen Alexandra Stakes, a marathon flat contest over an extended 2m5f.
The final race of a brilliant week and my selection here is CALLING THE WIND (16/1) EW. She was a good second in this race last time out where I just think she was outstayed on the soft ground. This quick ground will be fine and she has won over 2m4f at Goodwood so this extreme test should be no problem. David Egan is a positive jockey booking and she offers great each-way value to bring the meeting to a close.
