Glorious Goodwood Day 3 Tips for Thursday 28th July

Glorious Goodwood rolls into Thursday and the previews and betting tips include the Nassau Stakes where Nashwa is favourite and the Group 2 Richmond Stakes.

1:50 Goodwood

The opener on Day 3 is the Kincsem Handicap, a 1m2f race for 3 year-olds.

The one for me is VEE SIGHT (7/2). A good winner last time out at Sandown when well fancied, he still looked to be learning on the job despite winning easily enough pulling clear to win by over 2L at the finish. He relished the step up in trip that day and this extra furlong today should bring out even further improvement on breeding. He’s getting better with each run and he’ll sit prominent which is a good place to be round here at Goodwood. Hollie Doyle is a positive jockey booking.

 

2:25 Goodwood

The 2:25 contest is the Richmond Stakes, a Group 2 over the 6f trip for the 2 year-olds colts.

I don’t think this is a strong renewal and I expect CHATEAU (3/1) to win this. He improved from his debut effort to win on his second start at Beverley to get up close home. He then went to Royal Ascot and ran a decent race finishing 4th. Last time out, he stepped up to 6f for the first time at Newbury and it appeared to bring out further improvement. He quickened we to beat a solid yardstick by a length there but he was arguably value for me. I think he’ll continue on the upward curve and can come forward again.

 

3:00 Goodwood

Next up at 3:00 is the Gordon Stakes, a Group 3 ran over 1m4f.

I like NEW LONDON (15/8) NAP here. I liked him last time out and I was really impressed with his victory there winning a decent handicap off a mark of 99. He looked more professional at Newmarket that day than he did at Chester the time before and I think he will continue to improve and mature with each run under his belt. I think he will  become a strong St Leger contender so I’d expect him to be winning this to justify that.

 

3:35 Goodwood

The feature on Day 3 is the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes for the fillies and mares over 1m2f.

It’s DREAMLOPER (15/2) for me here. I’m happy to draw a line through that effort last time out at the Curragh on very slow ground. That race wasn’t ran to suit at all and her two runs prior to that effort were really good including a Group 1 victory. She has a potent turn of foot and back on quicker ground in a race that should suit, I’m happy to take a chance on her to topple the odds on jolly.

 

4:10 Goodwood

The 4:10 is next in the agenda and it is a nursery handicap for the 2 year-olds over 7f.

It’s SUNNINGDALE (8/1) EW for me here. He made an encouraging debut at Windsor before finishing mid-division at Royal Ascot on his second start. He went to Newbury on his latest start and finished strongly to be a never nearer 4th. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet and I think this step up to 7f is bound to bring out more improvement. He’s a fair each-way price.

 

4:45 Goodwood

The final race on ITV comes up at 4:45 and it is a trappy 5f sprint handicap to finish.

It’s LE BEAU GARÇON (9/1) EW for me here for the Easterby team. He shown plenty of pace last time out at Newmarket before fading late on, that was over 6f so this drop to a fast 5f is a positive. Before that, he had 2 wins and 2 seconds from four career runs. Therefore, this is only his sixth career start so he’s definitely unexposed compared to a lot of his rivals.
