Breeders Cup 2022 Day 2 Tips – The Best Bets for Saturday from Keenland

Race 4 Keeneland – 4.29pm

My selection here is GOLDEN PAL (2/1) NAP. He’s a top notcher on home turf as he’s proved at this meeting the last two years when bolting up. He has the best gate speed and should bag the rail which is obviously crucial. He is at best round a bend on fast ground and he gets that combination here. He showed he’s in rude form when winning a Group 2 level last time out and that should have put him spot on for this.

 

Race 5 Keeneland – 5.10pm

In race 5 I like LAUREL RIVER (7/2). He’s shown improvement this season winning both starts to date. He likes to sit handy and from stall 6 he should have no problem getting near the front and won’t have to worry about being stuck on the rail. Bob Baffert obviously knows the time of day and the form of his victory last time out couldn’t have worked out any better.

 

Race 6 Keeneland – 5.50pm

In Race 6, it’s hard to get away from NASHWA (13/8) NB. She brings the strongest European form to the table and the American challenge doesn’t look the strongest in my opinion. She’s in stall 3 which is pretty perfect given it’s just off the rail. The fast ground will suit the filly well and I find it hard to get away from it given all the positives.

 

Race 7 Keeneland  – 6.30pm

The favourite Jackies Warrior will be tough to beat but at odds-on I’ll take her on with an each-way alternative on ALOHA WEST (12/1) EW. She won this race last year coming from way off the pace and I’m thinking she can at least again run into a place this time round. She has a decent record here at Keeneland too truth be told and although she’s had a few setbacks this season, she’s obviously been trained with this race in mind. Not the strongest selection for obvious reasons but she’s worth a small each-way investment from stall 5.

 

Race 8 Keeneland – 7.10pm

In Race 8, I’ll chance ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (22/1) EW here. He won this race two years ago at this track at a decent price and I think there’s optimism for him to do so again. He obviously travels well and he enjoys this unique track for a start. He’s been improving for each outing this season and I’m sure this race would have been his number one target form some time. He comes here fresher than most and for a lot of the market rivals, this may be one race too many. Ryan Moore takes the ride and I think the current prices should be gobbled up because I can see the money coming for him throughout the day.

 

Race 9 Keeneland – 7.55pm

In Race 9, Todd Pletcher her holds a strong hand with the front two in the market. The pair hold obvious claims but I’ll chance CLAIRIERE (7/1) EW here. She went off favourite to beat Malathaat last time out but everything went wrong so I’m happy to draw a line through that effort. Prior to that, she won three in four starts including at Group 1 Level. She stays further and I am just  hoping she can hold her position early as think she’ll be coming home the fastest.

 

Race 10 Keeneland – 8.40pm

Race 10 is the Breeders Cup Turf and I’ll take a chance again here, the one for me is HIGHLAND CHIEF (33/1) EW. Stall 13 might not be ideal but at a big price I’m happy to stick with her. She won well over course and distance last month which is always a positive and I’m sure that was a run to put her spot on for this. She’s a previous Group 1 winner so this level should hold no fears and if she can get a good position, I think she can outrun her odds at least. Trainer Graham Motion certainly knows the time of day and jockey John Velasquez is a positive jockey booking.

 

Race 11 Keeneland – 9.40pm

Not the race to being relying on to save the day as 2/5 favourite FLIGHTLINE just looks a class above. A real superstar who can hopefully complete several multiples at the end of a bonanza day.
