ITV Racing Tips for Saturday 12th November from Cheltenham & Lingfield

1:45 Cheltenham
The 1:45 race from Cheltenham is an intriguing renewal of the Grade 2 Arkle Trial over just shy of 2 miles.
A tricky race as there is plenty of question marks. The one for me is TOMMYS OSCAR (11/4). He jumped well to win on chase debut at Carlisle and I think he can get the run of things from the front. Monmiral makes his chasing debut here and it’s a tough ask albeit the schooling reports off encouragement. Banbridge surely wants further although he’s the classiest horse in this race. I just think Tommy’s Oscar has the pace and the jumping skills to make it tough for them all over the minimum trip here.
2:20 Cheltenham
The 2:20 is the feature handicap, the Paddy Power Gold Cup over an extended 2m4f.
The one I like is GA LAW (13/2). His run in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree was full of promise as he was a never nearer 3rd despite making an early mistake. You’d hope he would come on for that effort too and he’s certainly still unexposed as he is only a six year-old. Jamie Snowden has started the season well and I think his horse has the potential to go close here.

2:35 Lingfield
The first of two races from Lingfield comes up at 2:35 and it is a 6f listed race known as the Golden Rose Stakes.
It has to be SUMMERGHAND (10/3) here. He’s had a season to remember and this is a significant drop in class from the Group 1 Champion Stakes he ran in last time out. He was second that day behind Rohaan and a repeat of anywhere near that effort will be enough to take this.
2:55 Cheltenham
The 2:55 race is a competitive handicap hurdle for the stayers over just shy of the 3m trip.
I like PADDLEYOUROWNCANOE (6/1) EW
3:10 Lingfield
The 3:10 from Lingfield is another listed race, this time the Churchill Stakes over the 1m2f distance.
I like MISSED THE CUT (5/2) NB here for the George Boughey stable. He is a real improver who completes a hat-trick including when he was a well-backed winner at Royal Ascot. He finished a close enough 5th in a decent enough race in France last time out at Group 2 level so I’d expect he’d take the beating returning to listed level. The yard are operating at a 24% strike rate and I think he’ll go very close here with Jim Crowley aboard.
3:30 Cheltenham
The final race on ITV comes up at 3:30 and it is another competitive handicap hurdle, this time over 2m5f.
The one for me is UNANSWERED (5/2) NAP. Tony Martin sends him over here with Peter Carberry taken the reigns. I think he will be ridden cold and will sneak into the race. I think he’s a lot better than a mark of 111 and I think connections will be happy with that. The early market vibes are encouraging given the shrewdness of this yard. He was a good win at Punchestown when last seen over hurdles and he can add to that tally here.
