ITV Racing Tips for Thursday 13th April from Aintree
ITV Racing will be bringing us live action from Aintree’s Grand National meeting this week, starting with 5 races on Thursday 13th April.
The action gets underway at 2.20pm on ITV1 but Henry has also previewed the opening race of the meeting, the Grade 1 Manifesto Novices Chase at 1.45pm.
See all our ITV Racing tips for day 1 of Aintree below and the current odds for each selection.
1:45 Aintree
The opener of the Grand National meeting is the Grade 1 Manifesto Novices Chase over 2m4f with five runners scheduled to go to post. (Not on ITV but Grade 1).
The one I like is BANBRIDGE (7/4 with William Hill) here. I’d be hopeful the wind and decent enough forecast through Wednesday night into Thursday morning will have the ground quick enough for him to run. He skipped Cheltenham so comes here fresh unlike his market rivals Stage Star and Saint Roi. The 2m4f trip looks ideal based on his last run. This sharp track will suit well and Banbridge is a great fluent jumper.
Bet on day 1 of Aintree with William Hill’s £30 sign-up offer.
2:20 Aintree
The second Grade 1 on the card is for the juvenile hurdlers over 2m1f known as the 4 year-old Juvenile Hurdle.
I think ZENTA (6/4 with Betfred) NB will be tough to beat in this. She brings the strongest form to the table finishing a good third in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. The Irish juveniles are much stronger than the British horses as proven in the Triumph. The selection gets weight off her rivals too, if she runs his race, she’ll be a tough nut to crack.
Bet on Aintree today with Betfred’s £40 welcome offer.
2:55 Aintree
The 2:55 is a mouthwatering renewal of the Grade 1 Alder Hey Aintree Bowl Chase for the staying chasers over 3m1f.
You could give them all a chance in this but I’ve landed on CONFLATED (13/2 with bet365). He ran a cracker when third in the Gold Cup last time out and he comes here fresher than most as that was just his third start of the the campaign. He ran a cracker in this contest last season finishing a good second behind Clan Des Obeaux. I think he’s improved this season too. Aintree will suit better than Cheltenham and he looks the value to me.

3:30 Aintree
The 3:30 is the fourth and final Grade 1 of the afternoon and it is the Aintree Hurdle over 2m4f.
Constitution Hill will have no problem with the extra 4f and should win this on the bridle again. The one to chase him home that I like is SHARJAH (Betting without fa
4:05 Aintree
The 4:05 race is the first chance we get to see the Grand National fences as the amateur jockeys take on each other in the Foxhunters Open Hunter Chase over 2m5f.
I like LATENIGHTPASS (11/2 with Betfred) EW here. He won this race last season and obviously, a repeat bid has been the number one target this season for connections. A prominent racer who jumps well relishing these unique National fences, he looks solid to me. He has followed a similar prep to last year with three straightforward enough point races. He was second in his first effort before winning his last two point races to put him spot on for this. He’s arguably an each-way bet to nothing in here.
4:40 Aintree
The finale on ITV is the competitive Red Rum Handicap Chase over the 2 mile trip.
I like HATCHER (12/1 with Coral) NAP in this. A typical Dan Skelton plot job, he ran really poorly in his first three starts this season pulling up on the first two occasions before falling at Ludlow in December seen him drop 12lb in the weights. He then had a wind operation before running a huge race at 80/1 at Ascot at the start of the month finishing a decent third. I’m sure that was to put him spot on for this and off the same mark as last time out of 130, he has to go well.
