Cheltenham November Metting Day 3 Tips on Sunday 17th November

Cheltenham accumulator tips

We move into the final day of the Cheltenham November meeting with six races on Sunday 17th November and Ciaran has picked out his best bets for the day including a couple of double figure prices.

The action gets underway at 1.10pm this Sunday and you can also see a few of these races live on ITV Racing.

Starting off with a moderate Maiden Hurdle, we have a short priced favourite in the form of Whimsy, who on hurdling debut ran Declan Quesllys Mozzies Sister to half a length. That’s certainly the best piece of form in the race but at odds on, I won’t be backing her. Keep an eye on Maghlaak who was rated 8 pounds superior to the fav on the flat (negating the mares allowance here) and makes his debut over obstacles just 36 days after his last flat performance and changing trainer. It’s a no-bet race for me.

Peaky Boy is favourite here for Nicky Henderson and Ollie Harris but first time out, I think he can be taken on. PRIMOZ (9/2) comes here off the back of an impressive defeat of Pay the Piper at Wetherby and Lucinda Russell has had 7 winners in the last 2 weeks. While most of his better form is at Ayr, a chance is taken he can translate that to the big stage here. However, always take note of Gavin Cromwell sending one over and I note some early support for The Other Mozzie who has an impressive good ground Galway win amongst his recent form.

The key piece of form here is the 2m handicap chance at the October meeting where Calico beat Matata by a neck. There is a one pound swing in the latter’s favour and the betting can’t split them at 7/4 each. Marginal preference is given to Double Green contender MATATA (7/4) who has shown an admirable attitude when almost getting back up that day and won’t have the same pace pressure (Dancing on My Own hassled the lead that day). Third Time Lucki is an interesting runner, almost 2 years since his last outing and sporting new colours.

Everyone’s idea of the best-handicapped chaser in Britain last year was Monbeg Genius. Based on his 2022 Utlima run with Fast or Slow and Coach Rambler, that may be true but he failed to show it last year. I also wonder if this may be a pipe opener for the Welsh National.

But for 9 year Old DOES HE KNOW (9/2), everyday day is a going day. You know what you are going to get from the extremely likable Kim Bailey charge, he will go from the front and won’t leave anything on the track. Dropped a pound for his solid run at the October meeting, the extra 2 and a half furlongs will be in his favour and I don’t think this race is as strong. At 9/2, he is short but you will certainly get a run for your money.

The main event of the day is the Greatwood Hurdle and Dysart Enos has long been the favourite. However, a look through her hurdle form shows that she hasn’t beaten anything of note (albeit she beat subsequent mares Novice winner Golden Ace in a Bumper) and at a short price and first time out, I’ll be taking her on.

Readers of my pieces in the last will know my admiration for the genius Emmet Mullins and JACOVEC CAVERN (16/1) EW seems to be the pick of his 2 runners on Jockey bookings. Sent off a well-backed 5/1 fav in the Cesararawich last time out, I can forgive his performance in a messy race. Moderate hurdle form can be forgiven, especially if the application of cash comes tomorrow.

Another EW selection is FIERCLY PROUD (20/1) who is undoubtedly well handicapped and maybe just needed the run on seasonal reappearance at Ascot.

Minella Hollow is the latest in John Nallens Minella Squad and interestingly he runs the Nallens own colours and hasn’t been sold on (yet). However, this is a long way from his Facile Roscommon win and so at odds on, I’ll take him on with FORTUNE DE MER (9/2) who was very unlucky in defeat at the October meeting and who is well-regarded by the stable.
