Dubai World Cup Night 2024 Betting Tips, Predictions and Preview
Read our 2024 Dubai World Cup night betting tips from all nine races, culminating in the Dubai World Cup, due off at 4.35pm UK time on Saturday 30th March.
The action starts at 11.30am and Toby (follow him on Twitter @RacingToby1) has been through all nine races and given his best bet for each.
11:30 Dubai Kahayla Classic
Arguably the biggest Arabian race of the season, with the unbeaten 17-time winner Asfan Al Khalediah heading the market at odds on. He’s as close to a thoroughbred as you can get and has been head and shoulders above his competition throughout his career. This will be his toughest test yet on a course he is yet to experience which is slightly different to that in Riyadh but even with that fact he is impossible to oppose. Stablemate Tilal Al Khalediah is no slouch winning the equivalent race on Saudi Cup night, a winner of 9/12 races he is definitely the main danger. It would be great to see the old boy RB Rich Lyke Me run a big race in behind but he tends to struggle when going further than a mile.
Tip – Asfan Al Khalediah (10/11 with William Hill)
12:05 Godolphin Mile
Saudi Crown would have been trained specifically for the Saudi Cup last time out, and although a valiant effort in 3rd that would have been his main aim this season. Although behind Saudi Crown LTO, last year’s winner ISOLATE would have been trained with this race in mind again, he was a wide-margin winner last year, this renewal is tougher but he still warrants respect. It’s a shame there are no extra places on offer as Qareeb could represent place value given that he stays further and the likely strong pace will suit his style as seen last time behind Laurel River.
Tip – Isolate (11/4 with bet365)
12:40 Dubai Gold Cup
As expected the Europeans hold a strong hand in the Gold Cup and it would be a shock were they not to bring it home. TOWER OF LONDON got up in the last stride LTO suffering a rough passage that performance can certainly be upgraded. Siskany returns after his close 2nd last year, after the same prep there’s no doubt he will make the frame. Coltrane, Trawlerman & Eldar Eldarov come here from a layoff and I would have to pass them over on that basis against race-fit horses. I think Tower Of London is the most unexposed of these and has potential to improve over the staying trips and will therefore be my selection.
Tip – Tower Of London (7/2 with bet365)
1:15 Al Quoz Sprint
I would rather a lower draw for STAR OF MYSTERY but I think this race is tailor-made for her. Getting lumps of weight from her elders and a strong stayer over 5f this quick 6 can see her to best effect. I can’t see Frost At Dawn getting the same freebie as last time the jockeys should be wise to it now. As for the elders, I would give Emaraaty Ana a fair chance at outrunning his odds after a solid Group 3 win LTO. California Spangle the highest rated of these as well as the best CV could find this a bit sharp, he has speed but has spent the majority of his career over a mile.
Tip – Star Of Mystery (11/4 with bet365)
1:50 UAE Derby
FOREVER YOUNG has been all the rage this season and overcame adversity to get up in the dying strides of the Saudi Derby. He will need to race more professionally this time but the extra distance is sure to suit and with whispers of a Kentucky Derby shot he is clearly well regarded. Aidan O’Brien sends over Henry Adams who missed his prep race at Dundalk which involved his stablemate finishing last of 3 neither of which would be an ideal prep. At a bigger price GUNS AND GLORY set an impressive marker over C&D last time out and if repeating that is bound to be around at the finish.
Tip – Forever Young (5/4 with William Hill)
Each-way – Guns And Glory (16/1 with Boylesports)
2:25 Golden Shaheen
The most competitive race of the night 5/1 bar the field, littered with Japanese and US stars. Remake won the Saudi equivalent fairly easily and I would be surprised if any in behind that day could reverse the form. However a certain IGNITER had his measure when they last met in Japan, he needs to overcome a poor performance since then but that was over further and this drop back to 6f and the bonus of stall 1 can see him return to winning ways. Sibelius won this last year with plenty of the same opposition in behind and has to be in the picture again.
Tip – Igniter (11/1 with Betfair)
3:10 Dubai Turf
Lord North attempts to win a 4th Dubai Turf which would be an incredible training performance aged 8 but I fear this is his toughest test yet. Do Deuce is a multiple Grade 1 winner including a defeat of Equinox. Measured Time still somewhat of an unknown quantity but has been all class in two visits to Meydan this season and commands respect as Godolphin no.1. The form of his latest win has been franked with 4th Spirit Dancer winning the Neom Turf next time. (Runs in the Sheema Classic next)
Therefore 3rd that day is hugely overpriced here, SAN DONATO is a proper hold-up horse who needs to be confidently ridden through the field but with up to 5 places on offer is my play.
Each-way Tip – San Donato (50/1 4 places at Betfred or 40/1 5 places at SkyBet)
4:00 Dubai Sheema Classic
A very deep renewal of the Sheema Classic and in my opinion, the best race on the card. Auguste Rodin was the beneficiary of an incredible ride in the Breeders Cup turf and in my opinion possibly flattered as a result. Emily Upjohn returns from a layoff but was impressive when winning the Coronation Cup last year beating Westover who has finished 2nd in this race. The aforementioned Spirit Dancer cannot be written off up in distance for the first time given the manner of his Neom Turf victory. However the real superstar has to be LIBERTY ISLAND, the next best thing out of Japan since Equinox she gets weight all round and I’m confident of a great performance
Tip – Liberty Island (5/2 with William Hill)
4:35 Dubai World Cup
The 1-2 from the Saudi Cup oppose again, Senior Buscador chinning Ushba Tesoro. Both like to be held up and will do so again, a strong pace should be ensured by Laurel River despite his stamina queries. The most intriguing contender has to be the Kazakh Kirbirkhan. An unusual route to the top but there is no doubting his ability, two wide margin successes’ over C&D means he is a danger to all. I see Kabirkhan getting to the front at the top of the straight stretching a couple of lengths clear with USHBA TESORO storming home late to win with Senior Buscador just unable to make his mark back in 3rd.
Tip – Ushba Tesoro (11/4 with William Hill)
