1:50 Goodwood

The opener on Day 3 is the Kincsem Handicap for 3 year-olds over 1m2f.

It’s KILLYBEGS WARRIOR (14/1) EW I like in this. A horse that much show a fair amount at home as he was highly tried at the start of the season and didn’t disgrace himself. However, he put it all together last time out when winning well at Newmarket last time out in a competitive handicap. It’s good to see Kevin Stott retain that partnership and we know the stable have a fine record here at Goodwood. The selection is a willing horse and will hopefully have no ground issues.

 

2:25 Goodwood

The 2:25 race is the Richmond Stakes, a Group 2 contest for the 2 year-olds over the 6f trip.

I’ll chance SKETCH (3/1) here as I was really taken by his debut victory at Newbury where he made all and quickened away in impressive fashion. He has plenty of scope for improvement on just his second career start and in a race full of improvers, I think he’s a fair price to go close on the back of that easy debut victory.

 

3:00 Goodwood

The 3:00 contest is the Gordon Stakes, a Group 3 for 3 year-olds over 1m4f.

I like ARTISTIC STAR (11/2) NB here who has shown useful form and is more than capable of winning at this level. He was a good winner on his first two career starts at Nottingham and at Sandown. He then went to the Derby and struggled on that track but still stuck on well to finish mid-division. Finishing third behind a Group 1 horse in King Of Steel at Royal Ascot beaten 6L isn’t a bad piece of form and this drop in class should see him bang there. The ground won’t be an issue.

 

3:35 Goodwood

The feature on todays card comes up at 3:35 and it is a fascinating renewal of the Group 1 Nassau Stakes for the fillies and mares over 1m2f.

I think BLUE ROSE CEN (Evs) NAP is a horse of the highest quality and she’ll be tough to beat here. A winner of 7 of her 9 career starts including her last five, she’s a filly on a serious upward curve. Her victory last time out at Chantilly was over this trip and was arguably a career best. Nashwa was impressive last time out but that was over the mile and prior to that she disappointed over this trip.
