Horse Racing Tips: FIVE Best Bets for Fridays Racing at Newbury

We’ve cast our eye over each race from this meeting and highlighted our five best bets of the day below.

Newbury – 12:40
Only four runners are expected to go to post in this Grade 2, Class 1 Novices Chase over 2m4f, and a case can be made for each of the quartet. Our selection though, is Tea Clipper, from the Tom Lacey yard. He returned from a six-month break to win a similar race at Chepstow last month in impressive form and retains Stan Sheppard in the saddle. Prior to that win, he had produced good runs at the Cheltenham Festival in March and the Grand National Festival in April.
Selection: Tea Clipper (10/3 with William Hill)
Newbury – 13:15
The first live race on ITV3 will likely see Jonbon go off as the strong favourite in this Class 3 “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle over 2m½f, but it might be worth siding with Good Risk At All at a better price. He returned from an eight-month break to finish second over 2m at Chepstow earlier this month and looks a real danger to the favourite. Having Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle is a big plus for the Sam Thomas yard.
Selection: Good Risk At All (11/4 with William Hill)
Newbury – 13:50
Fifty Ball looks like an excellent each-way chance in this Class 3 Novices Limited Handicap Chase over 2m½f. He returned from an eight-month break to finish third of seven at Sandown three weeks ago and could build on that performance over this shorter trip. His last visit to Newbury saw him finish second of 23 in February over this distance and he can go well again for the Gary and Jamie Moore partnership.
Selection: Fifty Ball (4/1 with William Hill)
Newbury – 14:25
This is a competitive Class 2 Handicap Chase over 2m4f where cases can be made for a number of runners, but our each-way pick is Umbrigado from the David Pipe yard. He made huge strides over fences last year and completed a hat-trick of wins at this track in March. He returned to action in October and has had a couple of runs over timber since, which can provide a solid base for this return to chasing. David Noonan takes the ride.
Selection: Umbrigado (5/1 with William Hill)
Newbury – 15:00
Paisley Park should be fully tuned up following his return to action at Wetherby last month after a six-month break. He goes in this Class 1 Hurdle race over 3m for trainer, Emma Lavelle. Although he disappointed in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March and was pulled-up in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Aintree in April, he can bounce back with victory in this. Aidan Coleman is in the saddle for this impressive runner.
Selection: Paisley Park (2/1 with William Hill)
