Lingfield: 12:30 Betway Handicap

A typically trappy sprint handicap, but it may be worth chancing topweight Haseef, who returns from a lengthy absence, but is a full brother to Group 3 winning sprinter Came From The Dark. He wasn’t beaten far, off a 6lb higher mark, in a 0-85 contest over a mile on this course when last seen in public; dropped in class and distance, this free-going sort may be able to show his rivals a clean pair of heels.

Red Rookie fell when favourite for a similar race at Ascot last month, but his previous narrow defeat by Witness Protection at Chepstow makes decent reading and he can make amends for his latest mishap. Any rain shouldn’t do his chances any harm and he remains open to significant improvement after just two starts over regulation fences.

Newcastle: 5:00 MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap 1m

Dual course and distance winner Imperial Commander wasn’t beaten far by subsequent winner Alexander James, again over course and distance, early last month and can resume winning ways. The War Command gelding was a little disappointing at Kempton last time, but has yet to win on Polytrack and should appreciate the return to High Gosforth Park.
