ITV Racing Tips for Newbury & Newcastle on Saturday 30th November

Newbury racing tips

1:54 Newbury – IMPOSE TOI (7/2)

The first race live from Newbury is a handicap hurdle over the extended 2m4f trip.

I like IMPOSE TOI (7/2) here for the Nicky Henderson yard. I think a mark of 134 appears well within his reach based on last season’s handicap form and the fact there looks to be further improvement to come this year. He was last seen finishing a good third in the competitive Lanzarote Hurdle on his last start, albeit back in January 2024. However, he has winning form when fresh as he showed when winning first time-out last season at Cheltenham and I think he will be ready to go today.

2:10 Newcastle – SIR GINO (5/4) NAP

The first of two live races from Newcastle is the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle over 2m.

It is SIR GINO (5/4) NAP for me. Unbeaten in his juvenile campaign last season, there is bound to be more to come this year. He looked a monster at times and he did well to win his final start at Aintree after a troubled end to the season for the yard. He appeared to show his well-being in a recent racecourse gallop and I think the Newcastle track will suit him well. I like his chances to step up and become a real Champion Hurdle contender.

2:25 Newbury – QUEENS GAMBLE (6/1)

The 2:25 from Newbury is up next, the Gerry Fielden, a handicap hurdle over the extended 2 miles.

I like QUEENS GAMBLE (6/1) in this. She was a fantastic bumper horse for Oliver Sherwood back in 2022/23 before switching to Harry Derham last year for her novice hurdle campaign. She won all three of her novice hurdle starts and appeared to improve with each outing, especially with her jumping technique. She has a serious engine and this nice galloping track at Newbury looks sure to suit her. A mark of 130 is lenient and I’d expect Derham to have her ready to go as his horses always tend to go well after a lengthy break.

3:00 Newbury – VICTTORINO (7/1) NB

The 3:00 is the feature, the always competitive Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase over 3m2f.

I like VICTTORINO (7/1) NB here for the in-form duo of Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams. The stable form is an obvious plus at present and this horse did look really good on his first two starts for the yard this time last year. He won both starts at Ascot in impressive fashion. Things didn’t go to plan after that but he’s dropped back down in the handicap as a result. He’s only a 1lb higher than he was for that second Ascot win and with the horse freshened up over the summer and the yard flying, he’ll do for me in this.

3:20 Newcastle – GUSTAVIAN (10/1) EW

The 3:20 from Newcastle is the Rehearsal Handicap Chase, a competitive contest ran over just shy of 3m.

I like the bottom-weight in this GUSTAVIAN (10/1) EW for the shrewd Anthony Honeyball yard. A mark of 124 appears well within his reach and Sean Bowen looks a really eye-catching jockey booking here. He made a pleasing seasonal return to action when finishing a good third in the Badger Beer at Wincanton behind Al Dancer. With that run under his belt, I like his chances in this.

3:35 Newbury – IMPERIAL SAINT (5/2)

The final race is a trappy handicap chase over the extended 2 miles.

I’ll go with IMPERIAL SAINT (5/2) to land the hat-trick here to start his novice chase campaign. He was a progressive hurdler last season but he has really improved for a fence this season winning both his chase starts at Aintree. This demands more off 10lb higher but he’s a great jumper who’s on a serious upward curve. I don’t think this is the deepest of handicaps and he is a worthy favourite.
