ITV Racing Tips for Friday 4th December from Sandown and Exeter
Friday’s ITV Racing tips come from Sandown and Exter and Henry has picked out a betting tip for each race along with the best odds for the selections at the time of writing.
There are four live races from Sandown on Friday 4th December as well as three from Exeter including a run out for The Big Breakaway, who is a very short-priced favourite to win the 2.05pm Novices Chase race.
At Sandown the build-up to the Tingle Creek is underway but Friday’s card also features some good racing including the Ballymore Winter Novices’ Hurdle and Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle. We’ve got a preview and betting tip for each of those races.

1:50 Sandown
The 1:50 contest is a Novices handicap Chase over 2m4f. The jumping will be put to the test for plenty of these novices here and I’m sure only a handful of horses will be able to manage. The ground will be very tough so a horse that stays well will be essential.
The one I like is MORNING VICAR NB. He made an encouraging seasonal debut at Uttoxeter when finishing second in a race that is proven to be useful form. He backed that up with a stunning display from the front, jumping like a stag at Newbury. I think he can put that jumping to good use here and I believe this horse has a touch of class.
2:05 Exeter
Only 3 runners line up for this one and I’d expect THE BIG BREAKAWAY to justify very short odds and follow up his win last time out at Cheltenham. He’s looking to move on to more important tasks and could be an option for our Cheltenham Festival ante-post betting tips for March.
2:25 Sandown
It’s back to Sandown next for the Grade 2 Winter Novices hurdle over 2m4f.
Many readers will know I really fancied STAR GATE NAP last time out at Chepstow and he couldn’t have been more impressive that day. He jumped well and quickened away from fairly solid yardsticks looking impressive. I think this horse will prove to be a Grade 1 horse and I fancy him to win this well for the Evan Williams team.
2:40 Exeter
It’s back to Exeter for the next race live on ITV and it is a handicap Chase over 2m4f. Severano heads the market for the Oliver Sherwood team and he won well on his chase debut and will come on again for that.
However, the one I like here is QUICK WAVE. She was a horse that caught my eye last season and she progressed well throughout her campaign. She runs well fresh, loves deep ground and Venetia Williams is banging in the winners as usual at this time of year.
3:00 Sandown
The next at Sandown is a very competitive handicap hurdle over 3m and it’s going to be an almighty slog where a lot of the runners won’t get home
The one I like is FARRANTS WAY. Very similar to the reasons I like Quick Wave in the fact Venetia Williams trains him and he will relish these ground conditions. He won very well back in March on his last start at Hereford over 3m1f which bodes well here. He can go well at a nice price.
3:15 Exeter
The finale from Exeter on ITV is another decent handicap for punters to get stuck into. It’s currently 5/1 the field which shows it’s an open contest and there are plenty of runners that are respected here.
The one I’ve landed on for this is DAWSON CITY. Dawson City is a previous course and distance winner which is always a positive. He now runs here off a mark I believe he is certainly capable of winning off and jockey Rex Dingle is a jockey I really like. He is worth every penny of his 3lb claim and that could prove crucial in such an open contest.

3:35 Sandown
Our finale on ITV is a mares contest over 2m4f. Vegas Blue will prove popular but I believe she is vulnerable under these conditions and she’d prefer a speed test on quick ground.
The one I like is WHITEHOTCHILLIFILLI. This was a mare who shown some useful form last season and plenty of it came on deep ground similar to what she’ll be racing on today. She looked in need of her comeback run and that should have her spot on for this handicap debut here. I believe she is better than her current mark and Harry Fry’s horses have been running well recently.
