Longchamp Tips for the 2024 Prix De l’Arc De Triomphe and 5 Other Races

Longchamp

12:55 Longchamp

The first of six Group 1’s at Longchamp is the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac. A race for the 2 year-old fillies over the mile.

I find it hard to get away from ZARIGANA (4/5) in this. Unbeaten in two starts, she relished the step up to the mile here at Longchamp last time out when powering clear to win by 3 lengths. That was on soft ground so conditions for this look ideal. She’s open to further improvement and she can land this Group 1 for the Graffard stable.

1:30 Longchamp

The 1:30 at Longchamp is the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. It is a Group 1 for 2 year-olds over the 7f trip.

It’s RASHABAR (4/1) for me in this. A surprise winner at Royal Ascot in the Coventry Stakes, he proved that was no fluke when chasing home Whistlejacket in the Group 1 Prix Morny last time out. He was staying on strongly there doing all his best work late on so I think this step up to 7f could bring out more improvement. He looks overpriced on the form book and he’ll do for me.

2:05 Longchamp

Next is the sprinters’ turn with the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye over 5f.

I think the slow ground can help BELIEVING (4/1) finally land that Group 1 he deserves this season and reverse the Curragh form with Bradsell. An excellent Group 1 sprinter all season, he’s got a great chance in this from stall 5. A low draw is beneficial and with Bradsell in 9, he can get a lovely toe in this. Billy Loughnane takes the ride and he’ll be relishing the opportunity of big race success on Arc day.

3:20 Longchamp

The feature comes up at 3:20. The Group 1 Prix De l’Arc De Triomphe over 1m4f.

The one for me is BLUESTOCKING (11/1) EW. An impressive winner on soft ground here at Longchamp on her last start she shown a willing attitude to fend them off. From stall 3 here, she’ll be able to gain a lovely prominent position and under similar underfoot conditions it’s hard to see her not running a big race. She has strong form in all the right races this season over a variety of distances. However, this is definitely her optimum trip and she has a great profile for this race. Overpriced and a worthy each-way player.

4:05 Longchamp

The 4:05 is the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera for the fillies and mares over 1m2f.

It’s CONTENT (11/2) NB for me here. She’s a really good filly and in typical Aiden O’Brien fashion, she’s improving throughout this season and gaining plenty of experience. She was well fancied last time out when winning the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks . She has form on a soft surface too and I get the impression she has the right balance of pace and stamina for a race of this nature. I think she’ll continue improving and land yet another Group 1 race for the Coolmore operation.

4:40 Longchamp

The final Group 1 race comes up at 4:40. It is the Qatar Prix de la Foret over the 7f trip.

It’s KINROSS (3/1) NAP for me here. He has shown he is still a high-quality performer when bolting up at Doncaster last time out on St Leger Day and that should have put him spot on for this. That last run was on good ground and he’s arguably a better horse with gibe underfoot and he’ll get that today. He was second in this race last year when going off odds on but this looks a weaker renewal. Based on his last run and the fact this does look weaker, he has to be considered a very appealing price.
