Royal Ascot 2023 gets underway on Tuesday and @RacingToby1 is back with four each-way tips across the first four days racing, including a Tuesday pick at 11/1 and 20/1 shot for Friday.

- Tuesday – 5:35 Wolferton Stakes – Cadillac 11/1
- Wednesday – 2:30 Queen Mary – Midnight Affair 10/1

Tuesday – 5:35 Wolferton Stakes – Cadillac 11/1
I thought that Saga would have turned up in a handicap given his mark, but he looks to be turning up here and which I prefer because it just boosts the price of my selection. Cadillac is who I am going to side with, I’m hoping that any rain is only light because he clearly relishes a quick surface. 2nd in this race last year, he has taken a bit of time since moving to George Boughey to put his best foot forward however a commanding handicap win off top weight at Epsom has proven he still retains his ability, and this has surely been the target. The booking of James Macdonald also catches they eye as he is one of the best Jockeys in the World at the moment.
Wednesday – 2:30 Queen Mary – Midnight Affair 10/1
Quite an open renewal but I was impressed with Midnight Affair in the Hilary Needler, unlucky on debut behind Soprano (favourite for the Albany) she made up for it when winning hands and heels with more in hand than the official distance suggests. She has the pace for 5f but sees it out well which is needed with Ascot’s uphill finish. The main dangers probably come from the same stable, Karl Burke has two fillies which shouldn’t be underestimated.
Thursday – 4:20 Gold Cup – Yibir 10/1
I’m yet to be convinced that Coltrane is a true Group 1 horse, Emily Dickinson has to bounce back from a very poor performance LTO, Courage Mon Ami is very lightly raced and ‘could be anything’ but needs a lot of improvement to feature here. Broome dispatched Subjectivist when breaking his track record at Meydan but has been beaten since and neither are getting any younger. That leaves by far the classiest horse in my opinion, Yibir. He is a Breeders Cup Turf winner (Beat Broome when staying strong) and I see no reason why he won’t get this trip. He will be held up early and can unleash his speed late and if staying the distance will be hard to hold off.
Friday – 4:20 Commonwealth Cup – Shouldvebeenaring 20/1
Little Big Bear is of course the one to beat, however, there is surely value in Shouldvebeenaring to place. Beaten just a length and quarter by him LTO, 8 lengths clear of 3rd. If he can replicate that run then he shouldn’t be far away. The rest of the 2000 Guineas runners will have to prove this drop in trip is what they desire, Noble Style was very poor when sprinting LTO beaten by Shaquille who is the improver. Sakheer hasn’t been seen since Newmarket and it is expected that he will be a sprinter for the future, but we don’t know yet.
