The opener on the final day is the Chesham Stakes, a listed contest for the 2 year-olds over the 7f trip.
My selection in this is MASEKELA. He was a good winner on debut at Goodwood for the Andrew Balding team who have already been in the winners enclosure twice with 2 year-olds this week. He handled the soft ground well that day which is a positive given the underfoot conditions he’ll run on today. Balding’s horses tend to always improve from their debut effort which means this horse must have a lively chance.

3:05 Royal Ascot
Next up is the 3:05 race and it is the Jersey Stakes. A Group 3 race over 7f for the 3 year-olds.
The one I like is MUTASAABEQ. I’m happy put a line through his Guineas effort on ground that was quicker than ideal. Before that he won impressively at Newmarket twice, one on heavy ground which is encouraging for today. He’s still unexposed and I expect a bold bid under these conditions.
3:40 Royal Ascot
The Hardwicke Stakes is up next, a Group 2 contest over the 1m4f trip.
The one for me here is WONDERFUL TONIGHT NB. She was a Group 1 winner here when we last seen her in action, albeit it was last October. She will get similar conditions here today which connections will be delighted with. A few of her market rivals will struggle on this ground but she will absolutely relish it.
4:20 Royal Ascot
The feature on the final day is the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, a 6f Group 1 for the best sprinters around. Starman is a sprinter going places but the ground is a huge negative for him.
The one for me is DREAM OF DREAMS. He is a sprinter of the highest regard and has been very unlucky in the last two runnings of this contest where he has been beaten a head both times. He does all his best work at the end of his races and on the deep ground, he’ll hopefully see them stopping a little quicker in front of him today and can fly home for us to get up this time to make it third time lucky.
5:00 Royal Ascot
The first handicap on the final day is the Wokingham Stakes, a wide open 6f handicap over the famous straight course.
My selection is PENDLETON NAP. He will be well suited by this race in my opinion. The fast pace will suit him as he’s a strong travelling sort who likes to sit just off the pace. The slow ground will suit him well as all his best form has been seen with cut in the surface. He’s won here at Ascot before, albeit that was over 5f. Yet he has won over 6f so I have no stamina concerns. I think he is the best bet of the day.
5:35 Royal Ascot
The 5:35 race is the Golden Gates Stakes, a handicap on the round course over a trip of 1m2f.
The one I like here is SEASETT for the Richard Fahey team. He’s run too crackers on his last two starts finishing first and second over the 1m trip. He relished the soft ground there on both occasions and looked as though he would really appreciate this step up in trip. I think he’s capable of winning a race off his current mark of 88.
6:10 Royal Ascot
The finale to the Royal meeting is the Queen Alexandra Stakes. It will be a slog on the deep ground over this extreme trip of just over 2m5f.
The one for me is STRATUM. The duo of Willie Mullins and Ryan Moore can’t go the week without a winner. Simple as that really. He’ll have been laid out for this of course and he has a massive chance at the weights which suggests he’s been waiting for a nice day out for the shrewd owner that is Tony Bloom.
