Saturday ITV Racing Tips – Seven Races with the Betfair Chase, Haydock and Wincanton

There are seven races live on ITV Racing this Saturday with the feature being the delayed Betfair Chase, due off at 3.35pm. Henry has picked his bets from each race and there is also some free bet offers to use ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
The ITV action starts at 1.50pm at Ascot and you can see all our betting tips below.

1:50 Ascot
The 1:50 race from Ascot is the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Chase over 3m. It is a wide open renewal but there doesn’t appear to be anything that will be troubling the likes of Monkfish at Cheltenham.
My selection is DEMACHINE (9/2) from the Kerry Lee team. He was pretty impressive when winning here at Ascot two starts ago on similar ground to today. He finished third last time out at Newbury but I feel he ran a bit flat that day and the break will have done him good. He has had a wind op which may also help and Kerry Lee’s horses are running into form. I think he’s value in an open race.
2:05 Haydock
The 2:05 race from Haydock is the Rendlesham Hurdle, a grade 2 contest ran over 3m. The consistent On The Blind Side heads the market and is sure to run his race.
However, the one for me here is ITCHY FEET NAP (3/1). Returning to hurdles seems the best move for this Grade 1 winner as his jumping has looked sketchy at best. He’s been finishing races off strongly over slightly shorter so this step up in trip seems the right move. Trainer Olly Murphy reverted his other stable star Brewinupastorm to hurdles successfully last month and hopefully he can do it again today.
2:25 Ascot
The 2:25 at Ascot is next up and it’s a competitive handicap chase over 3m where JP McManus is well represented including the favourite Jerrysback who will come on for his recent run.
The one I like here though is NEWTIDE EW (8/1). Newtide remains unexposed over fences and I think he’s definitely capable of winning a decent race off his current mark of 141. He’s had a recent wind operation and I expect Bass to take the bull by the horns and prove tough to pass at a track that suits front runners.
2:40 Haydock
The 2:40 race is a Grand National trial over 3m4f and the soft Haydock ground will be taking no prisoners.
The one I like is LORD DU MESNIL EW (8/1). He was a very unlucky second in this contest last year and I think this is a weaker renewal. He has ground conditions to suit at a course we know he goes well on and he won’t be lacking for stamina over this extreme distance. Good value bet.
3:00 Ascot
The 3:00 race from Ascot is an ultra competitive handicap hurdle with many regular names in the line up.
I’m happy to chance DANS LE VENT EW (8/1) here who caught the eye last time out when finishing fourth in a race the current market leader Arrivederci finished second. He raced wide than day, held up in the rear and I think the likely strong gallop in this contest will play into this horses strengths. I don’t think he’s finished improving and he’s a good each way bet in a wide open contest.
3:18 Wincanton
The 3:18 race is the only race from Wincanton on ITV but it’s certainly an interesting contest. It’s a champion hurdle trial we know as the Kingwell Hurdle and I expect all eyes will be on Goshen who looks to bounce back after a poor start to the season.
The one for me is SONG FOR SOMEONE NB (6/5) who appears to again be underrated. He has been very impressive this season winning the Grade 2 Coral Hurdle at Ascot before winning the Grade 2 International Hurdle at Cheltenham in a gutsy manor last time out. If he runs to that level of form, I’d expect him to win this on ground conditions he’ll relish.
3:35 Ascot
The 3:35 race is the Grade 1 Ascot Chase and the enigma that is Cyrname heads the market. I worry he won’t get his own way in front with Master Tommytucker lining up so he has to be taken on for me at the price.
The one for me is MASTER TOMMYTUCKER (2/1) who is a horse I’ve always thought a lot of and features in the Paul Nicholls Chelten Festival stable tour. When he gets a small field and gets his own way in front I have no doubt in my mind he is a Grade 1 winner waiting to happen. Today could be that day, he was very impressive last time out at Kempton in a Grade 2 and he can come on again for that. He is still fairly unexposed given the fact he’s 10. Daryl Jacob is a jockey who I think will suit the style of rider Master Tommytucker needs to be seen to best effect.
