Saturday’s ITV Racing Tips from Warwick and Kempton (15th January 2022)
This weekend’s ITV Racing tips come from Kempton and Warwick and there are no less than nine races covered including four from Kempton and five from Warwick.
Our tipster Henry Gibbs has picked out his betting tip for each of the nine races and they can be found along with a race by race preview below, but before we get started, consider using one of these new sign-up bonuses to get yourself some free bets for today’s racing!
1:18 Warwick
The 1:18 race from Warwick is a handicap Chase over 2m but unfortunately, we only have four runners so it’s a win only selection.
The one for me is BRAVE SEASCA (11/8). A decisive winner on his latest two starts including here at Warwick two starts back he will look to complete the hat-trick here. A bold front running jumper who will be well suited by this track as he proved when winning here by 10l two starts ago. The duo of Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams continue in fine form and this improving sort could be tough to beat, especially getting over a stone off Sky Pirate.
1:32 Kempton
The first race from Kempton is a handicap chase over 2m4f but this time only 7 go to post so it’s another win only selection here.
The one for me is FOXBORO (4/1) here. Still a maiden over fences but I feel his time is very near. He appears to be getting better with every run and he ran a cracker last time out at Wincanton where he was just touched off and finished a gallant second. He effectively runs off 10’0 here with Angus Cheleda taken off 5lb and I think he has the ability to go close here.
1:50 Warwick
The 1:50 race is next and it is a 3m novice Chase in which Threeunderthrufive is an odds on favourite.
I’ll take the favourite on here with MINT CONDITION (9/2). The favourite hasn’t convinced with him jumping and this track isn’t very forgiven in that regards. Mint Condition is a hardy sort who ran well here on this card last season finishing a good second in the Grade 2 Hurdle. He stayed on well to win at Haydock on his last start and I’m hoping he can kick on again here now he has that victory under his belt. Value bet.
2:05 Kempton
The 2:05 race is the Silviniaco Conti Chase, a Grade 2 over 2m4f. Again, a disappointing four runners go to post and claims can be made for them all realistically.
I think MISTER FISHER (7/4) is the right favourite here and he should get the job done. This is his ideal trip after pulling up over 3m on Boxing Day in the King George. He is often seen to better effect in small fields like this as it takes the pressure off his jumping. If he can get into a nice rhythm early, I’d expect him to win.
2:25 Warwick
The 2:25 contest is the Leamington Novices Hurdle, a Grade 2 contest over 2m5f.
The one for me here is PARTY BUSINESS (3/1). He would have went close in the Group 1 Challow Hurdle last time out if he didn’t unfortunately come down at the second last when travelling well. He likely would have finished second there behind impressive winner Stage Star and that level of form ought to see him go close in a race of this nature.
2:40 Kempton
The Lanzarote Hurdle is next up over 2m5f and this is the best betting race of the day with 20 runners set to go to post and there appears to be plenty of value within the betting market.
I’ll take a chance on WILLIAM HENRY (25/1) EW. here. He is 12 years of age now but we’ve seen as recently as last week with Jepeck that age can be no object for these horses. Now with Sam Thomas, he gets a first time tongue tie in a race he’s won before. He’s struggled so far this season running over the 3m trip so this drop to 2m5f looks ideal. He has dropped considerably in the handicap and if he can hold his position early he could run a big race at a big price.
3:00 Warwick
The 3:00 race is the Classic Chase, a competitive handicap chase over an extended 3m5f.
The one for me is NO REMATCH (9/1) NAP for the shrewd Evan Williams stable. A good winner at Exeter back in February of 2021, he had a few issues and would have needed the reappearance effort last time out at Exeter. He ran and jumped well at Exeter before tiredness became an issue and he was eventually pulled up. However, I think that run was to blow the cobwebs away for a tilt at this race and hopefully he will now be spit on. Trainer Evan Williams is very good at targeting races with his horses and I think this has been the plan for a while with this lad.
3:15 Kempton
The 3:15 race is a 3m handicap chase and hopefully the 8 declared all run here for each way purposes.
I’ll chance A TOI PHIL (15/2) here. A classy sort on his day this is the first chance he’ll get for a long time to run after blowing the cobwebs away. He done that at Cheltenham on New Years Day and although he is a fragile sort, he is a classy sort when he gets his own way. He likes a small field which he gets here and he’s a proven stayer over this trip which can’t be said for some of the market rivals. It isn’t the deepest of races on paper and the Moore team are banging in the winners at the moment so I think this lad deserves a go here.
3:35 Warwick
The finale on ITV is a trappy handicap hurdle over 3m1f. The ground will be tacky by the time this race is on our screens and stamina will certainly be tested.
My selection is ALAPHILIPPE (3/1) NB. Last seen finishing a good fifth at the Cheltenham Festival last March in the Albert Bartlett he’s obviously had a few issues since. However, his assured stamina will be crucial here and Fergal O’Brien has a good record with his horses after a long break. Alaphilippe has himself won after a recent break in the past and I think Brennan will ease him into contention and he can stay on best to take this.
