Thursday’s ITV Racing Tips: Six live races from Chester and Worcester

It’s Ladies’ Day at the Chester May Festival and, while racing continues to be held behind closed doors, there’s still plenty to whet the appetite of stay-at-home punters.
Worcester, ‘The home of summer jump racing’, weighs in with a competitive handicap chase on what could be an informative and (hopefully) profitable afternoon.
Chester
1:45 Satchell Moran Solicitors Business Interruption Claims Handicap
Jabbarockie was well supported when winning narrowly over a similarly sharp 5 furlongs at Musselburgh on his reappearance last month; off a 3lb higher mark, from the plum draw, he must take all the beating once again. Eric Alston’s 8-year-old won just once, again on his reappearance, last season, but ran consistently well in defeat thereafter and remains feasibly handicapped.
Selection: Jabbarockie (11/4 with Bet365)

Yibir made a promising return to action when a close third in the bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown two weeks ago and, with improvement likely, can regain the winning thread. Connections reach for first-time cheekpieces, which is a slight worry, but the son of Dubawi is bred to be a top-class middle-distance performer and can take another step forward here.
Selection: Yibir (2/1 with William Hill)
2:45 Deepbridge Estate Planning Service Handicap
A tricky 3-year-old handicap, in which all the runners have questions to answer for one reason or another. Perhaps the one with fewest is the Archipenko gelding Aleas, who showed progressive form as a juvenile and demonstrated a liking for rain-softened ground. He steps up in class and down in distance, albeit only slightly, but his yard has made a decent start to the season and he can keep up the good work.
Selection: Aleas (6/1 with Bet365) Non-Runner
3:15 tote+ Pays You More At tote.co.uk Ormonde Stakes
Trueshan enjoyed a highly successful season in 2019/20, culminating in an impressive, 7½-length victory in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October and this looks an ideal starting point for his 2020/21 campaign. That said, under a Group Two penalty, he is 5lb worse for the length he finished ahead of Withhold at Salisbury in September and, dropping back to 1 mile 5½ furlongs, may not have things entirely his own way. Indeed, Japan, while arguably a little disappointing last term, is a dual Group One winner, including over a mile and a half, and shouldn’t be underestimated.
Selection: Trueshan (5/2 with Paddy Power)
3:45 Destination 2 Handicap
First Impression won a better race than this at Ayr, off a 4lb lower mark, on his final start of last season and, following a successful hurdling campaign, can pick up where he left off. John Quinn’s 4-year-old has done all his winning on good or softer going, so should have underfoot conditions to his liking; he can make it 3-5 under Jason Hart.
Selection: First Impression (6/1 with Bet365)
Worcester
2:00 Let’s Talk Handicap Chase
Recent winning form is in short supply, which makes life ‘interesting’ for punters, but it could be worth taking a chance on Furiously Fast, who remains open to improvement after just four starts over fences. Dai Burchell’s 9-year-old made his belated debut over the larger obstacles in October and, while he’s hardly set the world alight in the interim, he did win twice on the prevailing good going over hurdles earlier in his career. In a race that probably won’t take that much winning, he must have a decent chance.
Selection: Furiously Fast (10/1 with William Hill)
