Leicester: 3:50 Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap 7f
Wobwobwob remains 7lb higher in the weights than when winning a lower grade handicap at York in May, but is reunited with winning jockey Tom Marquand, who has a 40% strike rate for Adrian Keatley over the last five seasons. The Prince Of Lir gelding has shown his best form over 7 furlongs with cut in the ground, so should have his optimum conditions. First-time blinkers are never a welcome sign but, if they can eke out just a little improvement, he must have a decent chance of winning this valuable prize.
Selection: Wobwobwob (11/1 with Bet365)
Hereford: 2:13 Cazoo Handicap Hurdle 2m5½f
Watching Brief finished tailed off on unsuitably soft going at Fontwell last month, but remains just 4lb higher in the weights than when winning a better race at Uttoxeter in July. With the prevailing good to firm going likely to suit, he may be capable of adding to his winning tally. One win from 23 starts over hurdles tells its own story but, in a race that lacks any real strength in depth, he appeals more than most. He clearly comes with risks attached, but so, too, do his main rivals and, at the odds on offer, he could represent decent value.
Selection: Watching Brief (15/2 with Bet365)
Huntingdon: 4:50 racingtv.com Handicap Hurdle 3m1f
Railway Muice has been making hay over fences since being transferred to Sarah Humphrey last month, but whether he is capable of translating his apparent improvement back to the smaller obstacles remains to be seen. Under the circumstances, White Walker, who didn’t help his cause by blundering at the second last when beaten favourite in a similar race at Warwick last time, looks a viable alternative.
Selection: White Walker (9/2 with Bet365)
Newcastle: 7:30 MansionBet Watch And Bet Handicap 1m
Cosmos Raj has continued in fair form since winning at Ripon in August and, although comprehensively outpointed by the rejuvenated Third Kingdom at Newmarket last time, still looks feasibly handicapped. He takes a slight drop in class and may yet have more to offer. His 8½-length defeat by Dragon Symbol at Wolverhampton and here back in March at least demonstrated that he acts on the Tapeta surface.
Selection: Cosmos Raj (11/2 with Bet365)
