What Grey Horses are Running in the Grand National 2023 at Aintree this Year?
The Grand National is the best horse race in the world and people love to find different ways of picking the winning horse. One is to bet on the grey horses in the race so today, we take you through the grey horses that will be running in the 2023 Grand National at Aintree.
The last time a grey horse won the Grand National was back in 2012 when Neptune Collonges narrowly beat Sunnyhill Boy in the closest-ever finish of the famous race. Neptune Collonges’ odds were around 33/1 on that day and we have some big odds grey horses expected to run in the Grand National this year too. Noble Yeats and Corach Ramble are the current favourites for the race but what odds are the grey horses at Aintree this year?
How many Grey horses are in the Grand National this year?
At the time of writing, there are four grey horses scheduled to run in the 2023 Grand National, with their odds ranging from 16/1 to 66/1. The grey horses in the Grand National will be really popular with casual punters who like to pick their horse based on the horse’s colour, name or jockey silks and we have looked at the chances of all the greys below.
Gaillard Du Mesnil – 16/1 with bet365
Gaillard Du Mesnil comes to a potential race in the Grand National off the back of a thrilling win in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham a few weeks ago. He has also ran really well in the Irish Grand National so he does have experience of the longer trips despite only being a 7 year old. The National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham was run over 3m 6f and he finished that race off really well, so if trainer Willie Mullins decides Gaillard Du Mesnil will run in the Grand National, he is likely to be the best chance of a grey winner this year.

Vanillier – 20/1 with William Hill
Vanillier is another pretty grey horse who has a chance in the Grand National. He has been given a weight of just 10st 6lb for the big race, giving him a chance to get into the places for sure. His last run was in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse in Ireland over the extended 3m 1f trip. His jumping probably wasn’t good enough that day but he still managed to finish second in the race behind Kemboy.
Coko Beach – 33/1 with bet365
Coko Beach is a horse that will be popular not only because he is a grey but because his name will stick out to punters. Coko Beach ran in the 2022 Grand National and finished a creditable 8th. He is powered by the top team of trainer Gordon Elliott and owner Gigginstown Stud (who have won the Grand National twice with Tiger Roll in recent years). Coko Beach is rated 5lb higher than this time last year so he has his work cut out to better last year’s performance, but a good run at Punchestown last time out gives him a live chance.
Eva’s Oscar – 100/1 with BetUK
The biggest odds grey horse in the 2023 Grand National is set to be Evas Oscar who is currently available at 100/1 with BetUK. Be careful though, as you will only get odds of 50/1 with SkyBet and 66/1 with the likes of William Hill, bet365 and Betfred.
Evas Oscar is currently number 54 on the list of Grand National horses for this year so he needs 14 horses to pull out of the race to get in. This is unlikely at this stage in truth, but you never know. He ran very well over 4m 1f last time out at Newcastle so if he was to be the last grey in the race, he would certainly have a chance of a place for each-way punters.
