BATE Borisov vs Piast Gliwice Preview

BATE Borisov have been in the Champions League for a number of seasons consecutively now, and were last in the group stages in both 2014 and 2015. They start their long road to that point again here and have fallen just short in recent seasons. Last year they dropped into the Europa League after losing to PSV in the last round of qualifying.

The Belarusian side come into this match in good form, they are second in their domestic league behind Dinamo Breast and have won eight of their last nine competative matches, drawing the other one.

Piast Gliwice have never been in the Champions League at any phase so this will all be new to the new Polish champions, however they’ll hope to give themselves hope by not being out of this tie after the first round of matches.

They won their first ever league title in Poland last season which is an impressive feat with the likes of Legia Warsaw and Lechia Gdańsk behind them in Ekstraklasa.
