Celtic vs Nomme Kalju Preview

Having dispatched of Bosnian side FK Sarajevo in the last qualifying round, Celtic now face Nomme Kalju. Celtic’s passage to the 2nd qualifying round was relatively painless, winning home and away to secure a 5-2 aggregate win. Having gone behind in the first leg, the Scots went on to score three away goals and take control of the tie.

Celtic are heavy favourites to progress to the next round where they could face Maribor or Qarabag. For now, Celtic must remain professional and focused on the current fixture. The Scottish side will draw on their experience of Champions League qualification, having faced many similar tasks in recent years.

Contrastingly, Nomme Kalju have rarely found themselves in such a position. The Estonian club have plenty of experience in Europa League qualifying but have not faced many sides of Celtic’s stature. They currently find themselves in 4th place in the Meistriliiga, outside of a Europa League qualifying spot and ten points adrift from the top.
